Caffe Caldesi (Marylebone)

• So with Caffe Caldesi just around the corner from my work I decided it was time to give it a go
• The restaurant is run by Giancarlo and Katie Caldesi
• Who started the business with Caldesi Tuscan restaurant in Bray
• The difference here was that prices were to be cheaper and a more relaxed
• The restaurant itself is very cosy but is in some need of updating
• The starters are piled high and enough to feed two people
• T understand how they were making any money
• The Italian meats were really very good and tasted of high quality
• The sliver of cheese was bit disappointing and bland while the focaccia was dry and had no flavour at all
• Shrimps and courgettes were also piled high for a starter
• The calamari was cooked well but the batter had no flavour and the courgettes were completely tasteless
• The effort and mess that went in to peeling the shrimps was a waste of time
• Only producing a miniscule amount which was easier to swallow as my teeth couldn't find much the chew on
• The overall dish certainly filled you up with the quantity
• This is one of the best pasta dishes I&rsquo
• You would never guess that Caffe Caldesi is the origin of such an amazing meal
• Caffe Caldesi stays out of the limelight and certainly its atmosphere is quite the opposite of the bustling French steakhouse next door

• Has tried out many dishes on the menu and Caldesi is one her regular haunts
• They went out of their way to ensure she could have a good meal and took all her dietary restrictions into account and served her pasta dish that was off the menu
• First off this is proper italian
• All the staff are italian and even the wine is so local to specific regions that we ordered a Primotivo wine and it was written in dialect
• The Calamari was so fresh and crispy
• I personally went for pigs cheek served with polenta and mushrooms
• Previously at a michelin star restaurant and this was even better
• The smell of the Ragu was incredible and I stole a taste
• Sad to say that it was better than i or mama has ever cooked
• The flavour was incredible
• I think the best Tiramasu i have had
• Many course was less than £
• Compares with the best of the best of Italian restaurants outside Italy such as San Francisco and NY
• The location is phenomenal
