  • The expectation was that of gaudy grandeur

  • Synonymous with the City image but this was far more pleasing on the eye

  • The cavernous basement floor is a banker's playground with bottle service private booths and a high rollers VIP area

  • We were delighted to find that at Forge this was most certainly not the case

  • Previously involved with the launch of The Jones Family Project

  • It was clear from the start that Giles was extremely passionate about what he had helped create here and sold every single dish on the menu to us

  • Dishes such as the Tempura Soft Shell Crab and the Duck Egg with Chive Mayonnaise will keep you questioning your decisions but we opted fro the Pig &

  • Served with warm Walnut bread and a Sweet Fruit Chutney but the star of the show was the Jacob's Ladder

  • The meat simply dropped off the bone and was incredibly succulent

  • Having taken quite a hit with the ribs and terrine

  • We realised that we'd probably bitten off more than we'd bargained for with our main courses

  • That is why we would recommend that there is definitely no need for lunch before heading to dinner at Forge

  • Instead we opted for the Belly Pork with Vanilla &

  • Again the main event was the ribs though

  • This time it was a rack of Coca Cola Glazed Pork Ribs that did the trick

  • The meat fell off the bones at the slightest touch and melted on the tongue with a rich flavour that still gets the mouth watering now just thinking about it

  • A Smooth Barrel Aged Gin with Lemon Juice &

  • If you are blessed with a second stomach that caters for a final course of sweet treats then we would point you towards the Strawberries &

  • S gone for bare brick industrial chic with a much broader clientele than Abacus ever had

  • It does have one of those high spec basement club areas with VIP tables that require a £

  • I had a chat with debonaire Giles

  • You should visit Forge Bar to have a drink with him if nothing else

  • There were beef short ribs with meat that fell off the bone from a hard stare alone (£

  • Skewered chicken was expertly cooked still soft and succulent and with peanut butter

  • The cider pork with chunky chips and vanilla and Bramley apple sauce had the most cracking crackling I&rsquo

  • S particularly good about this acoustic act is they move around the venue with each song they play

  • Serenading different tables and sets of people with whatever request you throw at them

  • M not sure their content marketing is quite right with phrases like &lsquo

  • Was looking for a place for a quick lunch in a good setting near Bank station and Forge was the best looking from the street as you peer inside

  • I had the Forge Burger with Lincolnshire Cheddar and Tomato relish

  • The starter BBQ Pulled Pork really was a tiny portion but very tasty with 2 slices of bread

  • The burger was perfectly cooked

  • Cider Pork Belly had some of the best crackling I've seen and I believe it was truly delicious

  • While the Half Chicken went down a treat with some spicy corn on the cob

  • The Forge was the perfect place to get away from the bustle of Bank and into a relaxed environment where the food was great and the service friendly and warm

  • Playing lively tunes that has the most part of the bar and restaurant and staff all mouthing along to the words with a bounce in their step

  • I start off with the Tempura soft shell crab served with confit potatoes and sister has gone for the duck egg and chive mayo with asparagus and walnut bread

  • The tempura batter on the soft shell crab is a tad thick and not the light airy batter it should be

  • Marked as it is with a little star indicating a Forge &lsquo

  • We go for the Sirloin on the bone and conduct a little canny halving and sharing to get the best of both worlds

  • The pork belly is a large portion of perfectly cooked meat that flakes away at a gentle nudge of the knife

  • The sirloin is cooked exactly as ordered

  • One thing lets the side down and that is the horseradish bhaji

  • It's not bad it's nice but everything was over cooked and they got our mains order wrong

  • I don't think I'd come back but if you are with friends (Forge (City of London) is very much aimed at guys) it's a great upmarket burger joint with a cool nightclub downstairs

  • The cocktail list is going to be ever evolving

  • Some reason we were both drawn to pork dishes

  • I opted for the coca cola glazed ribs with apple and fennel slaw (£

  • My rack of ribs was a nice size

  • This one was just right and the meat was nice and tender

  • The apple and fennel slaw was lovely and refreshing and I would have liked a bit more of this to balance out the fatty meat

  • J and I again in synchronicity both opted for the chocolate brownie with caramel ice cream

  • Dark and dense and nicely offset by the ice cream(thankfully not salted as too many are these days

  • I thought the food was ok and the service was also ok

  • With that said there were quite a few of our party that had a great time

  • It's a trendy place with loud music

  • I think they think that because there are 2 bars that that over shadows their cooking
