Mother's Day is just around the corner but yesterday I had the pleasure of my Mum joining me in London a week early
-
It specialises in BBQ'd and smoked treats with a high emphasis on quality
-
The interior of Q Grill is exactly what I expected from Des McDonald
-
The wooden panelling and industrial fittings are a proven formula for success but it was the little finishing touches that added a sense of quality
-
We started with the drinks menu
-
The drinks menu is surprisingly substantial with Beer
-
An unforgivable crime if you ask me but it was soon forgotten when my cocktail arrived and looked good enough to eat
-
The cocktail menu is broken into four subsections of Coupes
-
A lot of deliberation was required over the food menu as there were just so many incredible sounding plates and we wanted to try them all
-
That finishes with a little heat on the palette
-
I could have gone one of six ways but eventually ended up with the Josper Ribs
-
What arrived was a giant slab of meat
-
So big in fact that they were hanging off the serving plate
-
The meat was so succulent and tender that it slid off the bones with ease and then melted in your mouth
-
The Pit Smoked Beef Hash with Fried Duck Egg
-
It arrived as pretty as a picture with the Duck Egg positioned on top with a deep rich yolk
-
Sti but softer in texture and the combination of the egg yolk with the potato and smoked beef was genius
-
The Josper Ribs were seriously filling so beware if your appetite isn't the biggest
-
Again there were some hard decisions to be made but there were two dishes that we both really wanted to try
-
Toffee and finished with Banana Puré
-
The other dish was the Bulleit Bourbon &
-
It was served warm with creme and what I believe to be Pecan Brittle but I wasn't completely sure
-
The pecans had taken on a completely different texture and the bourbon sauce was perfectly waited
-
It was a faultless meal (minus the lack of cider) with some great dishes that delivered on flavour but also showed care and imagination
-
The whole overall feel of the place was far more classy than I expected from Camden and we both absolutely loved it
-
As not only is the food tip top here but the price is pretty reasonable
-
My return journey will definitely see me tackling that or maybe even the ginormous Tomahawk Rib if a chum is feeling up to the challenge
-
We had a couple of dishes and a couple of sides and overall I was pleased with our meal
-
My chicken wasn't amazing of itself but it came with this fabulous wild garlic sauce which we couldn't get enough of
-
Cime de rapa is our new favourite vegetable
-
These guys know how to cook some meat until it is tender yet full of flavour
-
Given the 'Grill' is in its name we probably should have gone for one from the grill section and looking at some of the other customers' josper ribs I wish we had
-
Our sides were tasty good beans with a proper BBQ flavour and nice
-
The only downside was that it was all a bit tepid in temperature
-
The exterior look is as minimal as it gets (unless it just hadn't been finished yet)
-
Cor is very eye catching with kitchen tools
-
We had possibly the best seats in the house (ask for Table 5)
-
Ordering was tough with so many fantastic options
-
We then sat back with a couple of beers (mostly Camden &
-
Interesting bottles such as Quaffing Gravy Pale Ale) and watched as enormous pieces of meat including the 1kg Tomahawk Steak were chucked on the grill
-
Raw dishes were prepared further down the counter
-
Seabass Ceviche with Spicy Plantain
-
Pecans but the standout was definitely the Beef Short Rib w/ Cima de Rapa &
-
Seasoned Fries which went down very nicely with their House BBQ sauce
-
My second dessert of the night was a warm &
-
Sitting at the bar is another great option
-
You will want to have a couple of their cocktails whilst you are in front of the bartenders
-
I was there with my girlfriend
-
Confident that our relationship is adequately mature to withstand the threat of messy BBQ sauce face smudging
-
I was impressed with both the tenderness and the taste of the hens
-
Both dishes were generously sized
-
My opinion of the burger was slightly tainted
-
Extremely rich when drizzled with the extra BBQ sauce provided
-
Though there are plenty of rum and gin bases too
-
Q Grill specialises in serving up traditional BBQ of all varieties to the masses and are doing it well
-
Being a Sunday lunch with no plans in the afternoon
-
One overriding statement I'll make now is that I've never been to the southern states of America so I've never had traditional BBQ
-
You'll never know I would never claim I'd been to Antarctica just because I once picked up a science book (fact I did once pick up a science book thinking it was a recipe book
-
Iron sulphate is not a soufflé
-
I can't speak for its authenticity but what I can say is that the food at Q Grill is very good
-
The sundae oh my that sundae I could do with on a daily basis
-
A definite yes for Q Grill great food in a great atmosphere and service was spot on too
-
I recently visited Q Grill (Camden Town) and it was quite a decent experience
-
The food was pretty good but felt that it was a bit expensive for what it was worth
-
Especially the cocktails were just wonderful
-
Q Grill (Camden Town) is situated in such a location where there is no other good place
-
The staff here is really inefficient and can irritate the customer with their really slow pace
-
The food quality was surely a hit however
-
The execution of orders and drinks was a definitive miss
-
The place offers a great atmosphere with a lovely ambiance
-
The service here is a major lag
-
The prices are reasonable and so is the whole experience
-
It was a disappointment for me as Q Grill (Camden Town) was not at all up to the mark
-
I ordered beef and it was pretty tasteless
-
The service was not that good
-
Q Grill (Camden Town) is pretty close to our home so I would have loved if it was nice
-
Q Grill (Camden Town) is a must visit for the incredible experience that is given to the customers
-
The place has its own unique but absolutely sophisticated style and the food is just heaven on your tongue
-
The dishes were not prepared in the way they're supposed to
-
The options on the menu are delightful and lovely
-
The ribs I ordered were enormous in size and they tasted amazing
-
The flavours were spicy and amazing
-
Des McDonald is a big deal
-
He is currently building a food empire in London with restaurants including the Fish and Chip Shop
-
Q Grill is a beast of a place and knowing what Camden can be like (hello Gilga) my concern was that it would be full of tourists en famille or out of town daters
-
Walking into the roomy industrial meets rustic restaurant is a similar experience to stumbling upon Pizza East at the grimy end of Portobello market
-
Memphis style BBQ fare as well as the odd delicate dish like a smokey butternut squash hummus with burnt feta and charred flatbread and a divine prosciutto plate with figs and honey
-
My top date pick is the blackened butterfish with guac and pickled papaya
-
The best Old Fashioned around for those with a sweet tooth &ndash
-
Perhaps avoid building up a rapport with Paul &ndash
-
S a lot of food but if you make a concerted effort with the bourbon you could bump this up to a 4
-
S Q Grill for quite some time but had been holding off until one of my friends (a man who loves nothing more than flame grilled meat) was free&hellip
-
The entire centre of the dining area was empty and there was only one large group of people by the window with a smaller table of three seated in one of the booths
-
It was 10.30pm and we were in Camden&hellip
-
I knew what I was ordering before I even left the house
-
What the hell were they going to pit smoke
-
M meant to know what the hell a beef hash is but the fact of the matter is I didn&rsquo
-
They had no idea I was doing a review so it wasn&rsquo
-
It was either because we were close(ish) to closing time or these guys are just generous
-
Circular hash brown with beef mixed in and&hellip
-
The beef was as juicy as beef can get and was absolutely bursting with flavour
-
Every bite felt like it was physically confusing my mouth and I ended up feeling like I was eating last nights leftovers all mashed into one circular lump of meat and potatoes
-
The seasoned fries were really quite nice
-
Curtis managed to get through the entire rack (even though it was twice as much as he had ordered) and on the single rib I tried the meat simply fell off the bone
-
It all tasted fine and the portions were decent enough but it&rsquo
-
The fish too is very nicely done
-
The buttermilk fried chicken was a disappointment
-
The chicken was too dry to eat as the sauce that they serve with it was small in portion
-
The servers there are very friendly and helpful
-
Q Grill (Camden Town) is very good and we will definitely go there often and also recommend this restaurant to all
-
After fumbling with the online parking payment in Camden
-
The 10oz prime rib eye was medium rare to perfection and quickly vanished
-
Pepper rubbed Louisiana short rib was also good but the crispy pickles was too soaked in oil
-
Food as good as Bodean's but is still good
-
Grilled buttermilk chicken with blue cheese
-
The pork ribs and the sticky hen wings here are pretty good as I had a few takeaways from Q Grill (Camden Town)
-
I've heard the beer that they serve is spectacular
-
Flat white looked like a latte and served in a short glass which was too hot to handle
-
A full round waffle with 4 thin strips of grilled bacon was supposedly be crispy with maple syrup
-
The southern fried chicken on waffles topped with maple syrup was unusual
-
Our table was cleared and bill was served by this waitress who had an nasty attitude
-
We got a complimentary bourbon tasting in the bar upstairs with an incredibly knowledgeable bartender
-
I think this is the best (ok maybe it&rsquo
