  • My personal favourite is the Cassoulet de Toulouse

  • The mussels are also fantastic

  • I really like the cafe gourmand for dessert as I like having something sweet after my main course but quite often already quite full so a coffee with petit fours is perfect

  • Comptoir Gascon is a small French bistro on Charterhouse Street

  • Part of the gastronomical Gascon group including Michelin starred Club Gascon and bar Celler Gascon with a strong focus of food from Gascony

  • Bread does not come with the treats and it felt like something is missing just eating so much salty meats

  • The platter is definitely enough for two people to share

  • Our mains was served before we even finished our starter but because we were in a rush we had to gob down the food

  • It's not the best burger but the foie gras made up for it

  • The amount of meats may have you set for a heart attack but i was one little happy girl

  • French fries cooked in duck fat and crazy salt was far from crispy and looking lifeless

  • Firstly we were short of time and secondly we were too full

  • 45 minutes is definitely not enough time to enjoy the brilliance of food

  • Our carafe of vin de pays was execellent and very good value at just over £

  • To find an authentic regional French Bistro with such affection to food is brilliant

  • When I moved two years ago around Smithfield market I didn't know I chose the best area for a Southwestern French girl to live

  • The surrounding area of Smithfield market is like being in my hometown Toulouse with Club gascon

  • Sometimes a nice restaurant is the simplest one

  • I am always wondering why they don't do a duck treats platter with for example crispy duck skin scratchings

  • This burger is just devine

  • I guess it is to make it look more healthy

  • The call of foie gras is more powerful than a classic dish with Toulouse sausage

  • Everything is tasty from a duck

  • Those fries are just amazing

  • Comptoir Gascon is a great address to discover Southwestern French cuisine

  • Apparently they are doing 20% Off food during August 2014

  • Fatty duck with which to celebrate

  • Comptoir Gascon is a French bistro in Clerkenwell

  • We started with a glass of bubbly

  • I had the duck rilletes which came with sourdough toasts

  • Shredded duck which I was happy to plough into on its own

  • Especially with some crunchy cornichons to lighten it a little

  • It was quite filling so from that point of view bread was probably unnecessary

  • My vibrant sauce was very garlicky and salty and I very much enjoyed swishing my melt in the mouth duck with its crispy skin in it

  • I know garbure is traditionally a veg stew but I say ditch them and just keep the soup

  • S cassoulet was a thing of stodgy

  • ) and 'crazy salt' which just seemed to be salt with a bit of spice to it

  • Though I let stephen eat the majority as I was so stuffed from my food

  • Their signature Duck foie gras truffle burger was an absolute delight and their Desserts (especially the boudin noir) were simply amazing
