  • Darkly lit and nicely decorated there are very few tables

  • The main virtue of the place is that it's BYOB

  • 10 for two courses but the a la carte is still very reasonable

  • If you're planning a dinner for 10 or so people and are looking to drink

  • I would probably say the food was mainly Korean

  • Then again I generally don't really care about the origins of the tastes I'm experiencing wherever this stuff comes from it was quite good

  • If I do go again I will probably just stick with more starters

  • The beef in the signature dish I chose Beef Bintang noodles was grissly and they forgot to put any prawn in my friends prawn dish

  • My husband and I liked the idea of trying bintang with it being halal

  • It was about 10min walk from the tube station which wasn't a problem but is on quite a quiet street so I wouldn't really fancy that walk alone in the dark

  • It certainly is quirky with its exposed brick walls and drinking out of a jar

  • The mocktail was the nicer of the two

  • I ordered the chicken pad Thai which was pleasant and my husband went with the waiters recommendation of beef bulgogi

  • It was disappointing that it didn't come with any sides so we ordered some rice at £

  • The beef bulgogi was very disappointing

  • Not because we were full but because the beef bulgogi just wasn't very nice and the pad thai was just ok

  • I must say though the waiter was lovely so that was one good point

  • The mocktails were really good and at £

  • A bit tough to eat but the sauce it was covered in was really good

  • Is a very spicy and hot sauce made with mixed spices

  • I had to wait another 10 mins for it to arrive again with no explanation or apology

  • We could of left easily as there was no staff on the floor

  • Other people were also waiting for drinks

  • My evening meal at Bingtang was fundamentally a rather odd experience

  • The sheer small ness of the space strikes you because there is hardly any room to wait for a seat at one of the few tables

  • The tables themselves are small and the chairs slightly rickety

  • Again can add to the charm of a place if the rest of the factors are up to scratch

  • After having to wait too long to place an order when there was only one other table to cater

  • There is considerable choice on the menu with different options including noodles

  • Both dishes were edible there was nothing outstanding or exceptional about the taste

  • Main courses are between £

  • The main course includes dishes such as Chicken Bintang and Tofu and Aubergine Laksa and the portions on this menu are large and definitely worth the price

  • T strange it was be this affordable pricing

  • In fact it's more like a cafe with very few seats and a small garden

  • Full of flavour with many selections in the menu

  • I've been there 3 times already and tried different dishes and every time I was very pleased with the food

  • The service is slow but the staff is friendly

  • This is a shame as it is no longer serving authentic food

  • Six of us has different dishes but all were of very poor quality

  • Bintang in Kentish Town is the little spot with a big voice

  • What first strikes you is just how down to earth the place is

  • What remains is real and raw with an emphasis on practicality and comfort

  • The restaurant opens onto Kentish Town Road so your entertainment is a mixture of your dining companions

  • Kentish Town is very residential

  • Bintang appears to follow the same theme with a diverse Asian menu covering places like Malaysia

  • What they have done here is taken the best bits of what is the largest continent and put it in a pretty little package for you to enjoy near the comfort of your own home

  • The off licence ticks that box with its machine which unfortunately charges £

  • Now the basics are covered (and you have booked a table because it is popular)

  • Now this gyoza was very interesting

  • In that it was much slimmer and transparent than ones I have had before

  • I really enjoyed it as the filling was as prominent as the sticky case holding it together

  • Jacki had salt and pepper squid with taramind (Chinese)

  • My original main was supposed to be the baby chicken inasal

  • Is a pandan marinated dish from the Philippines with notes of lemongrass

  • I know that this is the go to Asian option more most people

  • Especially when one is writing a review

  • This piece of meat was slow cooked on the bone

  • I could understand why Jacki was prepared to go back in time to log her vote

  • The staff are sweet with a very funny Irish waitress who had us in stitches with an anecdote about apple sauce and tomato ketchup

  • The restaurant was pretty cosy and interesting

  • Service was great as the waiters were warm and attentive
