Young Cheng (Chinatown) is simply AWESOME
-
This restaurant was recommended to us by one of our Chinese friends
-
It is a little congested but so are most restaurants in Chinatown
-
The dimsums are very good and are quite pocket friendly too
-
The portions they serve are quite good and so make sure you don't over order
-
(We have done that quite a few times)All in all a must visit restaurant if you are in Chinatown
-
The place itself was really dirty and full
-
The other day we were around Covent Garden and got an urge to get some Dim Sum
-
After a quick research with Timeout and Yelp we ended in one of the Young Cheng places
-
This one had some variety bat the dishes were not much favor
-
Decent enough if you are starved for choice and want some Chinese to fill your belly
-
Frying everything and serving it with fish sauce/siracha does not make it Chinese food
-
The edible and coming to the proximity of good are the steamed shrimps and the chicken in black mean sauce
-
The atmosphere was typical of this type of place
-
A proper WonTon soup and half of a crispy aromatic duck with pancakes and veggies was all that we wanted
-
Young Cheng is one of the better Cantonese restaurants in China Town
-
The roast chicken dishes here are a must try
-
Other classic dishes such as stewed lamb hot pot and steamed minced pork are also worth trying
-
The downside of Young Cheng is it hasn't got the best service and lack of space as tables are extremely close to one another
-
Finding the best places to splash your cashâ
-
I also love finding those that are not soÂ
-
One such place recently was Yeung Cheng
-
In fact it is pretty ordinary looking but the food is what makes people from all walks of life fill up this restaurant
-
I've visited the branch before when they were along Shaftesbury Avenue
-
I like Young Cheng because their food is simple and non fussy
-
I usually order the soup noodles with wonton or roasted duck or sometimes duck AND wanton if I'm feeling extra greedy
-
Like most places in Chinatown don't expect super polite service but as long as the food is good and cheap I don't think many would mind
-
I have been to Young Cheng (Chinatown) a few times and the food is no better of worse than any other place in Chinatown it's average
-
I went along with my partner for lunch yesterday (26th March) and we spent just under fifty pounds on soups
-
The restaurant was busy and service was slow and rather brash
-
Young Cheng (Chinatown) is not known for its' elegant surroundings or pleasant staff few of whom speak any English or even bother smiling at their customers
-
It was not itemised only a few words scribbled in Cantonese and the total amount we were being asked to pay
-
We tried to figure out how the bill was inflated by an estimated ten pounds but it didn't make any sense and it seemed we had been charged for items we didn't have
-
I smiled and said I was sorry to bother him
-
That it seemed our bill was somewhat more than we had calculated and asked if he could itemise it
-
His reaction was astonishing
-
He started shouting at me that I was accusing him of being a cheat
-
The other diners and my partner were all horrified
-
He just would not stop shouting he said I was being abusive and that I should "
-
I pointed out that he was abusing a paying female customer
-
That he was being very aggressive and that I thought not itemising the bill and adding a service charge of around five pounds without asking permission was a bit cheeky
-
My partner then stood up and told the man that shouting at a woman so aggressively and telling her to shut up is disgraceful behaviour
-
Who seemed to have forgotten where he was in his utter rage
-
An American man who was waiting to be seated said "
-
I'm sorry but this is disgusting
-
The place had been emptied except from a table of 6 British diners who were halfway through their meal
-
The last remaining customers called out to us as we were leaving "
-
The cheap price if you are really hungry
-
It looks just like a take away but inside is full of people
-
The veg spring rolls were bite sized
