Fast Food Joints and numerous Bangladeshi restaurants sits a quaint Italian restaurant with a distinguished setting
-
Walking in on a Wednesday afternoon for Lunch I was surprised to see a style that resembles that of a high class restaurant
-
The restaurant was relatively full for a Wednesday afternoon in Mile end
-
The menu consisted of a few dishes in different categories that one would see in any Italian restaurants however with a higher complication
-
The waiter arrived to explain the daily specials which included Burrata with black truffles shavings on top and spaghetti with truffles both for reasonable prices
-
My friend ordered a margherita Pizza that arrived with basil and parmesan cheese on the side
-
The Pizza was thin crispy crust with a tasty tomato sauce
-
I ordered the Rabbit Ragout which was also very tasty and the pasta came al dente
-
I also ordered burrata with black truffles
-
There was a generally formal setting with a dedicated wine menu
-
This restaurant can be seen as a hidden gem in Mile end and is definitely recommended to anyone who appreciates good hearty Italian food
-
The prices may be slightly high compared to the surrounding restaurants but for the quality of the food and the ingredients it is definitely worth a trip and the money
-
Stepney is not exactly over endowed with restaurants
-
So Verdi's is a great find
-
Pappardelle with lamb shank ragu
-
The atmosphere is pleasantly informal
-
Starters I went for their small portion of tagliatelle bolognese I was worried it might be too filling for a starter
-
My friends also enjoyed scallops with samphire to start and another had calamari and courgette frite an enormous deep fried dish
-
Main courses they had specials of fillet beef with mushroom sauce and spring onion and another had oven baked sea bass
-
The roast potatoes side is worth ordering and sharing between two they are more baked little potatoes with skin on rather than traditional British roasties
-
I had a perfectly good chocolate mouse served in a glass ice cream type dish with raspberry coulis on top and another friend the classic tiramisu served in the same type of dish as the mousse
-
The service was very friendly and attentive
-
There was one comedy moment when they tried to give me my friend's beef (covered in sauce) twice and said it was my swordfish
-
Free limoncellos were also served to us at the end of the meal
-
Those living nearby are so lucky to have this as a local restaurant where you can either go all out as we did with three courses and the more expensive fish and meat dishes
-
We decided to hedge our bets and satisfy our stomachs with a good meal first
-
Waiting staff is always lacking of good manners
