  • S latest whopper of a restaurant which is housed in a former&hellip

  • The building is quite breathtaking with its huge

  • It felt like we were missing out on the fun downstairs

  • The quality of the food was very good and the quality of the service even better

  • We were greeted and seated by the very helpful staff at reception and our waiter Adam was very attentive

  • Washed down with great big steins of beer is usually what comes to mind when you think of German cuisine and it&rsquo

  • S pretty much all I ate on a holiday in Berlin once so I was hoping for some more sophisticated German cuisine when I heard D&

  • Kings Cross is kind of still my home

  • The back of Kings Cross station was developed and is now home to fantastic restaurants such as Grain Store

  • It even upped its cool factor with Central Saint Martin College

  • There is no shortage of things to do in the area with Granary Square hosting outdoor festivals and cinemas

  • Has grabbed a site which was originally a sporting association for the German Gymnastics Association

  • As we had chosen an a la carte menu we were put in the restaurant upstairs

  • The restaurant is quite a formal space

  • So my Metallica t shirt and Angelo's nose piercing and top cum dress was probably a bit of a shock to the business suited and booted diners already there as we sashayed in

  • We settled down at our tiny table and started with a half dozen Colchester rock oysters to share

  • Angelo had salmon cutlet with braised Belgium endives and orange emulsion

  • He was happy with the portion size and taste

  • It was literally like you were having lobster meat from its shell

  • When to swish and when to spit out but Virgile had the friendliest face ever and was really helpful on the wine descriptions

  • Apparently downstairs in the Grand Cafe is where you get snippets of Germany with hot dogs and the like

  • German Gymnasium is not a casual weekly dining destination for me

  • Went this week with friends for dinner

  • The place feels grand but still intimate with warm colors and warm lighting

  • Our waitress (German) was very attentive and friendly

  • The tartare apparently was also very good

  • The portion was just right

  • Again everything was formidable and we couldn't decide which one was the best

  • Yes 30 pounds for a schnitzel and 20 pounds for a plate of pasta with mushrooms is nothing you would spend everyday

  • The price they charge is equivalent to the service and food quality

  • 4/5 (My husband is very picky when it comes to meat and he had no qualms or complains about his plate)

  • The dessert (chocolate tart) was the best part

  • The first thing that I have to say is that as a restaurant

  • German Gymnasium is just beautiful

  • They had some great Oktoberfest specials but overall the food was not amazing

  • I have been back several times to give Restaurant - The German Gymnasium (King's Cross) a fair chance but I was never blown away

  • The restaurant interior is lovely and very modern and the location is great but the food could be better
