Loong Kee Restaurant (Hoxton)

• The food at Long Kee is overall pretty good
• My personal favorite is the shaking beef
• Beef alongside multiple vegetables with a soja sauce base
• Mix this with a good portion of rice (fried rice is excellent) and you have got yourself a solid dish
• It goes more or less without saying that Loong Kee great advantage is the value you get from the food
• This restaurant is undoubtedly on the cheap side
• Negatives about Loong Kee are scarce in my opinion
• I am not sure whether it was due to the fact that it is a BOYB restaurant or because it was a actually quite a cool place to go to
• There also is a room in the basement you can book for events etc
• Our Sunday mornings usually start with a trip to Kingsland road
• As Vietnamese food is said to cure unusual dehydration and hunger
• We suggest you start off your meal with the minced pork steamed rolls
• We would normally order asian style several dishes which are shared by the whole table
• Accompanied by a diner with a very unadventurous palate
• So our order was less exciting than usual
• The chicken and rice dish was surprisingly nice
• A basic stir fry with chicken breast
• Papaya salad was pleasant with a light dusting of crushed peanuts
• Goat bun was more to my liking with a strong distinctive aromatic note of perilla leaf
• Dinner for two with a shared starter came to only £
• I went to Long Kee after a casual job meeting following one of my colleagues' advice and I have to say that I left the restaurant with confronted feelings
• On the other side this was Saturday night and the room was completely packed
• Busy places are a good sign but in this occasion was way too much
• The noise level was so high that I could barely hear the people who I was sitting with
• The duck was by far the best dish we order
• It comes pulled with sauce on the side and pancakes
• We also had like a deep fried pancake with vegetables and seafood
• She said it was a bit greasy but tasty
• The service was surprisingly quick considering how busy it was
• All members of the staff were attentive and friendly
• So definitely I'd give Long Kee a second chance since there were lots of dishes on the menu that looked amazing
• Years ago Loong Kee Restaurant (Hoxton) was one of the first places I tried vietnamese but obviously by the taste they have become complacent and samey like most other vietnamese restaurants
• Loong Kee has a wide ranging menu of Vietnamese dishes but the particular draw card for our visit was their famed bahn cuon rolls
• We had a plate of pork rolls which came steamed and with the traditional dipping sauces and tasted great
• They allow BYOB for beers and wine which is a nice surprise among London's busier restaurants
• While the decor is somewhat lacklustre
