Le Garrick is becoming my family&rsquo
-
The homely brasserie situated in the entertainment heart of London is ideal for pre show dinner
-
The service is fast but not rushed and the staff is always welcoming and happy to engage without being overly attentive
-
The foie gras is my starter of choice and the meats for the main courses are tender
-
Especially the pork which is magnifique
-
The server starts bringing out a tray of glasses with a shot of alcohol with all round bright smiles
-
They been working for the family run restaurant for many years and happy with the work environment
-
Charles mission for his restaurant is to use top fresh ingredients and he personally visits them to check for quality
-
The fab thing about Le Garrick bread and water is free of charge to all customers they don&rsquo
-
A must try dish is this little artist palate looking pot with holes filled with a smell of lovely hot garlic
-
S and best eaten piping hot with the butter dripping off its cocktail sticks
-
I must say the duck was beautiful cooked without being too tough
-
The orange sauce was pure addiction
-
A very good portion of mash is also served with the dish along with wilted spinach
-
Re a major fan of nutella then Petit pot au chocolat is the one for you
-
I must have walked past Le Garrick about 700 times (literally twice a day for a year give or take) and finally got round to visiting this week with my fiancé
-
Atmospheric place with a lovely story it's been running for 25 years
-
Was taken over 8 years ago by the manager Dominika and Frenchman Charles who was previously a regular
-
Charles sent the head chef Rocco to SW France to train with none other than his mum
-
There are a few tables at ground level but most of the restaurant is down a spiral staircase into the cellar
-
Where there are various nooks and crannies to settle into
-
While it was cooked so it was lovely and moist with a flavoursome tomato sauce
-
Lovely duck confit with a heart bean stew gorgeous flavours and again
-
They finished off with a complimentary digestif of a prune liqueur perhaps not the particular spirit that I'd choose again (
-
Le Garrick was opened over 25 years ago and was recently taken over by Dominika and Charles
-
The menu is so authentic that head chef Rocco was recently sent to the South West of France to learn some valuable cooking tips by none other than Charles' mum
-
Le Garrick is a family run business with a passion for offering good
-
We began our evening with their signature champagne cocktails
-
This cocktail will be served throughout the festive season and with it's red hue
-
This sauce was highly loved by the staff at Le Garrick and had a truly sweet yet hot flavour
-
We shared a whole cheese fondue with plenty of white baguette
-
Those cheese was studded with garlic and fresh herbs which helped it match beautifully to the white wine
-
The wine was beautifully dry with a creamy finish
-
Was a duck breast cooked medium rare with a cherry sauce
-
The duck was served with a creamy celeriac mash and soft cabbage for an extra hit of vegetable goodness
-
The sweet and savoury notes in this dish were just a delight to eat and despite being incredibly full from the starters
-
The potatoes and vegetable brought colour and variety into the plate which was a nice touch
-
We finished our supper with a perfect creme brû
-
E and chocolate ganache with a buttery biscuit
-
E and the chocolate in the ganache was wonderfully thick and rich
-
It was easy to see why the calamari and beef are two of the most popular dishes
-
The love story and all the pictures are featured on my blog
-
I'd like to start by saying just how charming and accommodating our waiter was (as were all the staff)
-
Our waiter suggested I start with the evening's cocktail and my fiance a Ricard
-
The Foie Gras was creamy and rich the accompanying pear brought this out perfectly whilst the brioche was crispy and delicately sweet
-
The cornichons were too pickled for both of our tastes
-
My Cassoulet was authentic to the eye as well as the tastebuds
-
The beans (which took up most of the dish) were smooth and complimented the meats well
-
My fiance's duck was perfectly medium rare
-
The orange was strong and paired well with the simple flavours of the spinach and mash
-
The latter two were easy to eat
-
The creme fraiche and coulis were not needed
-
We finished with a digestif of pear williams eau de vie (water of life)
-
Le Garrick is not anything fancy to look at
-
If you're after an authentic French experience then this intimate setting is the place to go
-
Dominika and Charles are its newest family to look after this London institution
-
This restaurant is an integral part of their life
-
Step through the doors of this quaint French brasseries and you quickly forget the bustling Covent Garden is right outside the door
-
Walls adorned with Theatre posters and wine &ndash
-
After settling in with a good glugging of wine
-
Even better was the foie gras topped with home made pear chutney &ndash
-
The ginger was so fragrant it was leaping out from the dish and the chilli gave a lovely warmth in the mouth
-
Here at Le Garrick they were rich in garlic and laden in oil &ndash
-
Admittedly I was a bit naughty when visiting Le Garrick
-
It had the one thing you rarely encounter with such a sauce &ndash
-
Le Garrick had kindly provided me with some lovely bright photos to use
-
As a rule I always use my own and it was pretty dark inside
-
Desserts arrived and they were still just as spectacular
-
I really fell in love with the lemon tart &ndash
-
Almost just as good (living up to the expectation of that tart is hard) was the chocolate fondant and vanilla ice cream
-
All finished off with a selection of well sourced cheeses
-
Le Garrick is simply magnificent
-
Ve had a bad experience is obviously deluded
-
If good value and great food is what you&rsquo
-
Re after then look no further because Le Garrick is here &ndash
-
Especially with the promise of those snails and calamari
-
We are often go to These restaurant even if is a chain one
-
A wonderful family owned restaurant right in the middle of London with excellent service and incredible food
-
We had a wonderful night at Le Garrick and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a romantic setting or excellent French food
-
It's always a good sign that you're surrounded by French speakers and that the staff are French so we knew we were in good hands from the start
-
The moules were some of the best I've had and definitely the best in London
-
Andy and I decided that a night out on the town was in order and in our books that means only one thing
-
Le Garrick was calling our names
-
Le Garrick is a family run French Brasserie restaurant owned by Brendon for 25 years before handing down his heart and soul to Charles and Dominika
-
The French restaurant is based in the heart of Covent Garden
-
As we made our way down the spiral staircase we were guided to our sweet table under the exposed brick arch with a welcoming drink of prosecco (with grenadine and strawberries
-
The room was low lit so I was in the mood to enjoy my evening with my fabulous colleague and friend for a meal to remember
-
The menu looked all too delicious so I asked the lovely lady who was serving us to recommend what we should have
-
The calamari dish was all about the sauce
-
I dived into the sauce and soaked it up with bread as I waited for the next anticipated and final dish from the (Les Entré
-
Probably the best snails I&rsquo
-
The starters were delightful and we were so ready to tuck into our main
-
So our saviour French lady who recommended the starters picked out the best and popular dishes in the Les Plats section
-
8 oz chargrilled rare breed rib eye steak served with fries and bé
-
The portion was huge so we decided to split the dish between us so we can sample our second main dish as well
-
Packed full of flavours with that sweet honey glaze and balanced with the French crunchy green beans
-
S no way we were going home without some sweet delights after a giant meal for two girls
-
A warm chocolate fondant served with vanilla ice cream
-
Both of these desserts were to die for and that caramel shell was literally so glossy like glass
-
I am a massive sucker for chocolate and I was completely guilty when finishing off the whole plate
-
The team in Le Garrick were so friendly
-
The waiters were all super friendly and while most of the tables are situated downstairs
-
The place is very cosy and romantic with candle on most of tables but the food is nothing special
-
The tart is really nice with thin crust and burnt top
-
The onion soup was ok but they didn't toast the cheese on the bread
-
The beans in the cassoulet was overly salty although the meat were tasty
-
Service was also not that great as we have to ask twice to get the bread to go with our starter
-
Set over two floors the ground floor is rather unassuming compared to the cavernous nooks and crannies in the basement
-
Service was nice and attentive and there is a homely atmosphere to the place
-
De campagne served with two of the smallest cornichons I have ever seen
-
Despite these little niggles I can't shake the feeling that Le Garrick is the sort of place which could conceivably provide the setting for a truly epic evening I'll be back to try and set one up
-
Le Garrick is almost a London institution
-
Le Garrick is utterly and unapologetically French
-
I was greeted with a bonjour and flick of the wrist
-
Not a lot of gluten free entrees but most of the mains are gluten free
-
Our waiter was able to tell us about all the gluten free options
