Ikeda (Mayfair)

• The beef fillet is delicious but the pork belly was a massive let down
• The place is quite tiny so reservations are highly recommended
• There's a robata counter which is quite theatrical but avoid if you don't want to leave the place smelling like food
• The otoro (fatty tuna) was so good we ordered 3 more so everyone could try one each
• The sliced octopus was also a pleasant surprise
• The selection on offer is impressive
• The sushi is really well made and the fish is as fresh as can be
• Decor is minimal and there is no background music but I put this down to Japanese minimalism as opposed to dining in a boring setting
• My one wish is an open sushi counter to watch the chefs at work
• As presently only kitchen dishes are plated in front of the diners
