  • You can imagine how unwise it was to turn up to Covent Garden on a Friday night with no booking ok

  • Just try and picture how delighted I was then to find out that nearby Chotto Matte keep some spaces free for walk in customers AND there happened to be no wait

  • Chotto Matte (Soho) is seriously cool and had such a buzz in there

  • We were seated at the raised tables that face the chef's not quite as comfortable as the normal seats but you absolutely get the best view and after watching the chefs make sushi rolls all night

  • Sitting in this portion of the restaurant did mean that we sat adjacent to each other but it was a tad on the squashed side

  • The menu was just enormous or it felt that way and I think the waitress must have come round about 3 times before we were finally able to make our decision

  • The concept is based on sharing plates and you can have some delicious snacks whilst you decide (trust me

  • We chose the sweet potato and cassava crisps which were so crunchy and sweetly moreish that we were basically trying to force each other's hands out of the bowl

  • The restaurant is based on Nikkei cuisine with an emphasis on fusion Japanese Peruvian food and each dish we tried was completely unique to me in its flavour

  • Another aubergine dish if I'm going to fill my menu with vegetable dishes

  • We went for 7 plates between 2 people and one cheeky dessert and were slightly over full

  • What made this restaurant so special for me was that each dish not only had an unusual combination and ingredients but also textures making every mouthful a new experience

  • Salted caramel without proper salt is just caramel

  • Pointless calling it anything other than that and so I was pleased they did it justice

  • The same waitress largely dealt with us for the entirety of the night

  • Occasionally we were served and our dishes cleared by others but we appreciated the continuity and rapport of having one dedicated member of staff

  • Clove and cinamon cocktail was so aromatic and light whilst still doing a great job of quenching my thirst

  • This wasn't a cheap restaurant by any means but it was one of those places where I felt it was money well spent and somewhere I would definitely choose to return to sample more from their vast menu

  • Just look out for the dishes listed inside a box on the menu these are their specials so you can't go too wrong

  • Amazing food with fantastic flavour and texture

  • Miso aubergine (tiny pieces of grilled aubergine with miso flavour topped with dried apricot and puffed rice)

  • Hello this so called was a disappointment

  • She sees that I am there with a date/partner and she starts chitchatting as though it is so normal to divulge our private business relationship openly

  • What I tried was really good

  • We had a problem with the service

  • They made us wait for quite a long time without even telling us what is happening or writing down our names on the wait list

  • The portions were slightly small for the tapas style dishes that were meant to be shared on the table

  • Nikkei cuisine is at its heart

  • S scene y enough to rival Nobu but with prices suitably reasonable to justify a few more rounds of Chotto Bellinis before you rejoin Old Compton Street&rsquo

  • The giant corn and the creamed spinach were especially good

  • To top it off the prices are really very reasonable

  • Nikkei Cuisine is very popular in London like the rest of the world

  • Chotto Matte in Soho is one of the best Nikkei restaurants

  • Nikkei Cuisine is the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine

  • Salmon guacamole 'Tostaditas' is with jalepeno and citrus soy salsa

  • Nikkei style Sushi has hidden aromas on top and they are very delicious

  • There are al ot of dishes in the menu so it's best to try the Nikkei Sharing Menu

  • The prices are from 40 to 60 pounds per person for the Nikkei Sharing Menus

  • Kurt Zdesar's Chotto Matte is well worth frequent visits

  • The beef cheek was melt in your mouth delicious and so tender

  • Coriander and wasabi were added to tuna sashimi

  • Chotto Matte is a Nikkei Cuisine

  • Chotto Matte is all about the quality

  • Sourcing the best and freshest ingredients locally

  • So we ordered an 8 piece Nikkei Sushi which were all individually dressed (tuna

  • We had the Pork belly with nashi pear and yellow tomato salsa

  • Followed by black Cod with yellow chilli miso and a bowl of jasmine rice to compliment the fish

  • I had a fab time and I hope my friend enjoyed the overall experience too as it was my recommendation afterall

  • If you love your Oriental cuisine with a South American fusion

  • They staff doesn't speak very good English was a bit difficult but was definitely worth it in terms of ambiance and good

  • Amazing fusion food with surprising combinations of south american flavours with japonese cuisine

  • Chotto Matte was my first experience of Nikkei cuisine and it did not disappoint

  • I noticed everything here is finished off with a blow torch

  • The restaurant was already buzzing

  • Especially the downstairs bar area which is full of young and trendy people (hint hint)

  • This means there is something for everyone

  • All dishes are made for sharing and are a fusion between Peruvian and Japanese

  • I recommend the Seabass Ceviche (one of the best I've had in London)

  • We also had Lomo a la parrilla with spicy teriyaki and pomegranate salsa

  • I knew when I saw this on the menu that it was going to be cooked to perfection

  • The two dishes which were still nice

  • Not as great as the others were the Grilled Baby Chicken marinated in coriander and the Barbecue lambchops

  • The chicken was somewhat plain and lacking in flavour

  • It would suit better with ribs in my opinion

  • Finally we chose a passionfruit mousse for dessert which was flavoursome and relatively light

  • As the restaurant is split between two floors and is very big

  • My only comment is that the portions are quite light and you&rsquo

  • The flavours are no where near mediocre

  • It's an amazing dining experience especially with its street art in the dining hall as well as under black light underground

  • Yesterday night was my first visit but it was a memorable one

  • I was asked if I was happy to sit at the counter

  • As all tables were booked (this was true on a Tuesday night

  • Consists of eight little plates (here I should say that the service was a bit of a let down

  • Ebi Harumaki Ponzu Salsa deep fried prawn spring rolls with a nice little sauce

  • Pork and cassava dumplings with an ají

  • The citrus mayonnaise like sauce was not my favourite and it also wasn't spicy enough for my taste

  • Culos de pulpo very tasty grilled octopus with a purple potato puré

  • The atmosphere was vibrant and the whole restaurant gives out a good vibe I will need to go back and taste the other menu

  • We all started with wine at Soho House

  • What we discovered impressed us the staff were fantastic and the food delicious

  • I'm not sure what Grace Dent was talking about

  • We arrived a little early and were seated straight away with a warm welcome from the staff

  • Especially the downstairs bar area which is full of young and trendy people (hint hint

  • Chotto Matte (Soho) is definitely worth the hype

  • Everything was cooked to perfection and strangely

  • A very well thought out and put together menu with chefs that executed it perfectly

  • The only thing I liked was chips with dip

  • Me the food was 2.5 but the whole feel ambience and service was good so have it 3 stars

  • Recommend to go there with a small group and book your table downstairs to be in the centre of the fun

  • I was really impressed with how it all looked

  • The food itself was perfect and came out very quickly

  • Finally when we were on our last dish

  • Who didn't apologise for forgetting our drinks or generally seemed bothered by us which was frustrating

  • The food was pretty amazing and the vibe inside is great but I was so disappointed with the service we received that night

  • I loooooved it❤️ Went there for a dinner with my dad and both of us highly enjoyed every little thing about that place

  • Chotto Matte can almost pass off as a night club with its swanky slick exteriors and glitzy interiors

  • The waitress (Krasteva) was very professional and helpful

  • This vast three storey restaurant is a party starter

  • On the ground floor is an enormous bar and dining area to the side

  • With a colourful mural flanking the walls and a glass front which is opened up in summer onto a lively outdoor seating area on the streets of Soho itself

  • The main restaurant space is upstairs and has more of an industrial look

  • The food is truly fusion with a Peruvian influence

  • Had a very nice meal here the lobster tempura is pretty good (could have had more lobster in it though

  • Example an unassuming side dish of blue potato puree was a complex smoky revelation

  • Consisting of three prawns in their shells they came with an interesting sauce but really

  • On balance it is probably worth braving the irritating service for the food as the flavours on offer are well considered and original

  • Sadly the quality has gone down completely the tuna was so terrible that a bite and I had to spit it out

  • My memory of this one is enwrapped in a cloud of passion fruit cocktails and the taste of ceviche

  • That's when you want to be surrounded with good looking chatty people in an unbelievably trendy atmosphere

  • The aubergine with satay sauce

  • Everything was crafted to rock your tastebuds

  • We were constantly re filled with water and glasses of our prosecco which was the tipple of choice and it was particularly nice prosecco

  • We started with some guacamole and sweet potatoe crisps then We ordered a selection of things to share

  • The food seemed to come out in stages we had the yellowfin tostados which was delicious raw tuna

  • We got gyzos which were prawn and pork dumplings on a bed of sweet potatoe which gave lovely flavour

  • The atmosphere was really good too

  • Downstairs had a good bar vibe but it was quite expensive for the food we got

  • I really enjoyed everything and had a great night but I was missing a bit of the wow factor to be honest

  • Came here for a post theatre dinner which was perfect due to its great location and lively atmosphere

  • A great place to come with friends as the atmosphere is so good

  • Naturally you would think this is a London thing

  • The cocktails are amazing and every dish we had was like an adventure in your mouth

  • We were greeted with a lovely hostess and the bar drinks were awesome

  • The bartenders are accommodating

  • The decor was gorgeous and it was such a fun restaurant

  • A restaurant that is rated 4 and above on zomato I would have expected a few special things here and there

  • We started with the shrimp and lobster ceviche which was fine but too citrusy

  • After that we got the shrimp and mushroom spring rolls that were not good at all

  • The char grilled chicken was delicious and it was the only dish we enjoyed

  • As for the octopus it was salty but not so bad

  • Good thing too as I was eyeing Nando's across the street

  • Service was slow with a capital S

  • Its very hard to find Japanese food with peruvian fusion

  • Its a classy place and is a little expensive

  • The atmosphere is really fun and the music's nice

  • The salmon avocado sushis are particularly good

  • Vegetable rice is also recommended

  • The portions are really small

  • S one of a kind restaurant through the pretty photos that are constantly appearing on everyone&rsquo

  • The real foodies will know Kurt Zdesar is behind Chotto Matte setting very high expectations after his successes with Nobu and Ping Pong

  • The concept is somewhat strange combining Japanese and Peruvian cuisines (Peruvian Nikkei) and I won&rsquo

  • My initial reaction when hearing about it was confused as to how such different cuisines can be united successfully questioning whether it could work

  • We had a bit of a celebration evening and I wanted to chose somewhere with a good vibe

  • Places I booked Chotto Matte purely because I heard the bar was good (and food nicely rated)

  • I arrived earlier than my guests and sitting at the bar acquainted myself with the Bar manager and cocktail guru

  • Having one foot in the hospitality and wine business myself I found the conversation easy and interesting and before I knew it I was trying new cocktails

  • Rums I had no knowledge existed and I felt like I was a regular rather than a first timer

  • By the time my party arrived the bar was covered in multiple glasses of excellent combinations to try

  • The 4 of us were now treated to F' s extraordinary alchemy

  • Nikkei cuisine is a favourite of mine and the flavours didn' t disappoint

  • Nikkei shashimi (yellow tail with yuzu truffle oil)

  • Everything was of very high standard

  • Who was a great host for the evening and delivered outstanding drinks with a smile and supreme expertise

  • Rumour has it that he is releasing a brand new drink menu soon

  • I am so so impressed with the quality and taste of their Japanese menu (the sushis and sashimis)

  • My favorite dish was the truffle yuzu yellow tail (nikkei sashimi)

  • Is a giant bento box with some sashimi

  • My ceviche had a lemon overdose and it was awfully tangy and acidic

  • It killed the entire experience (and that was 2 out of 5 compartments of my bento

  • My favourites in the bento were the grilled sections

  • Grilled peppers were packed with flavour and had a charcoal taste

  • The grilled octopus was very tender and juicy

  • Dessert was probably my favourite part of the menu but because we were rushing for time

  • I didn't get to taste them well although I noted that the mochi and mousse had great texture and was not too sweet

  • Affordable for a pre theatre menu but I was not impressed by the experience

  • Chotto Matte is my go to for a fun night out

  • The atmosphere is festive and they have great cocktails so arrive early for a drink at the bar

  • The desert platter is great to share the salted caramel chocolate fondant in particular is a winner

  • This is a perfect place to start a fun night out with friends/clients

  • I looked up Chotto Matte and I was excited by the prospect of eating a Peruvian Japanese fusion meal as I had never done so before and I'm a big fan of both cuisines

  • I waited eagerly for almost 2 hours to eat here and it was worth the wait

  • We ordered quite a bit but the stand out dish was the Bacalao negro aji miso (black cod with yellow chili miso)

  • Was also excellent with appealing presentation

  • I have been here a few times and apart from the food being great the ambiance is good fun too

  • The signature chicken and carrot dish is delicious and for those of you sensitive to spicy food watch out

  • Amazing place to go out with friends and enjoy a night out

  • All the them is beyond my expectations except prawn tempura (it's more like fried prawn than tempura)

  • Ebi harumaki ponzu sala definitely the best dish of the night

  • The sashimi is a bit thick

  • One of the highlights of this restaurants is the entrance cocktail try the Flor de Manzana

  • Lunch at Chotto Matte was more a chore than an enjoyment

  • The food is delicious ( beef tataki being my favourite) but a) portions are petite and b) prices are steep

  • They couldn't remember what we ordered and what was already served

  • Plenty other places with better service

  • Chotto Matte (Soho) is a 10/10 all day long

  • Chotto Matte (Soho) was a key reason why I chose to travel to London last time

  • My friends that I have referred genuinely shared and do agree that this is a one of a kind restaurant

  • The service is excellent and the location is conveniently located in the crowded area of soho

  • The ceviches are out of this world and packed with flavor

  • That's about the only thing that was the highlight of the night

  • Chotto Matte is a must try

  • The wide selection of cocktails is impressive and the decor is fabulous too

  • I may have gone slightly overboard with praising Chotto Matte (Soho) because I had an memorable here and surely intend you go back for more in the menu

  • Right on the streets of London was pretty amusing for me

  • We ordered a range of dishes but my favorite were all the sushi options they really stood out and were delicious

  • Quite expensive with not that great service but had very interesting food

  • It's not lost on me why Chotto Matte is so highly rated

  • Chotto Matte is one of those uber trendy restaurants where all the servers dress in black

  • Doesn't quite match up with the price tag

  • If you dig that sort of thing and your money is burning a hole in your pocket

  • I suppose this is one of my favorite restaurants in London

  • The dragon rolls are my favorite and the beef tataki

  • Please go to this restaurant if u are thinking about it

  • Chotto Matte was the best restaurant in Soho

  • We ordered heaps of sushi and sashimi plates and they were all delightful

  • The service was good but Chotto Matte (Soho) was by no means cheap

  • The dishes were all quality and I will definitely return when back in soho

  • The atmosphere by the grill was good and amazing to see the staff at work

  • The fusion is a must try

  • Everything is just outstanding

  • We were sat in a side booth that was perfect for a special evening

  • On the side which meant you could opt to not have the sauce which was sometimes overpowering

  • We didn't want to have the pork belly and the staff were more than happy to swap it out to something else we preferred

  • The staff surprised us with sparklers on our dessert which was a nice way to cap off our 4th anniversary

  • L would definitely return again it was a brilliant meal

  • M finally getting closer to falling in love with the concept of brunch

  • S finally becoming a meal which is feeling more like lunch

  • All I can say is 'you're welcome' because this week's brunch comes to you courtesy of Chotto Matte and I promise you're going to LOVE it I know I did

  • It can be a bit noisy and the tables are very tiny and close to each other

  • If you think about booking a table be aware that there is a cancellation fee and you must give you credit card number

  • A love affair began with me perving over their posts

  • Having attempted to arrange an evening here with friends on several occasions

  • I finally took a leap and popped in one lunch when I was in the area

  • This spot feels like it is much better as a night time place

  • A table of one which is not uncommon these days

  • The waiter was little bit lack lustre

  • Making it quite clear he was living for his break

  • The salmon was a little bit veiny and not so nice to the chew

  • The california roll was good though

  • Why would you recklessly lose a sales opportunity on a Monday after with a less than half full restaurant

  • This is the best place to go to in London

  • Honestly at first we were scared to try Chotto Matte (Soho)

  • As everything on the menu was unfamiliar

  • By the end of our dinner both my friend and I agreed that this was a dining experience we won't forget

  • How many times you come across a Japanese fine dining restaurant which also serves good vegetarian food with decent options

  • The ambience was cosy and warm

  • Prices were on the higher side but we are not complaining

  • Brocolli which was really tasty

  • Had a quick dinner interesting mix of Peruvian and Japenese food started with the pisco sour which was better than what I had in some of the other Peruvian joints

  • We had the chicken teriyaki which was special the bbq tiger prawns which was average and the sea bass ceviche which was excellent but did not compare with the &lsquo

  • We also had some spicy tuna sushi which was very good fresh and the Peruvian Amarillo was special as the seasoning

  • The decor and atmosphere are really nice

  • As well as the food which is tasty and delicious

  • Offers special set menus which are worth to try

  • The food was amazing with incredible taste and smell combinations

  • The red wine was also very good indeed

  • Guacamole and edamame to start are also fresh and yummy

  • The sushi dishes were well made and the Seabass cerviche unbelievably tasty

  • The vegeratian prix fixe menu was scrumptious

  • The mushroom hongos are a must try

  • The manager visits the table to check if everything is good with the customers

  • The food was excellent and the service was very good either

  • The atmosohere at the restaurant was very nice and vibrant

  • Cheeto matte froth street soho London best for sushi Delicious great yummy lajawab taste

  • We discovered Chotto Matte on a random Soho Spree and boy are we glad we did

  • The place was absolutely packed which according to me is an excellent excellent sign

  • Both of which were totally yummy

  • We wanted to order repeats but were getting late for dinner next door
