• The gastronomy game in the country is insane with chefs long understanding that a dish not only has to taste amazing
• Adding to this though is that the cuisine is insanely flexible with the ability to morph itself from street food to Michelin star seamlessly
• So imagine my face when I found out that there was to be a Japanese restaurant opening a mere 5 mins from my house (hint
• Intimate and with a real homely feel that transcends from the decor to the food
• What I found though was that it was so much better
• Starters read like a list which would rival any in London at the moment with the BBQ pork and grilled salmon hirata buns and the torikarage fried chicken being particular highlights
• Approach the vegetable tempura with caution as the batter is a bit heavy and as well cooked as the salt and pepper squid is
• Mains though were of an impressive standard and thoroughly enjoyable
• The tonkotsu ramen was a real winner (though it was over peppered
• Not that I minded because I like pepper) and the Yasai katsu curry and salmon donburi were both as formidable as they were generous with a real authentic taste which is a pleasure to eat
• My recommendation though is to go for a bento box
• You get to sample the fresh hand rolled sushi and sashimi amongst other items which I thought was incredible
• The bento box is an excellent introduction to those visiting for their first time
• What is there is very very good with mochi of coconut
• The matcha green tea ice cream is among one of the best I've had in London
