Haandi (Knightsbridge)

• Rich food and nice atmosphere were the orders of the day
• A boneless (as usual) chicken dish with a coconut gravy
• Not too much since almost everything we had ordered was really good too
• My only beef was with the time taken to be served we waited for almost an hour for the food
• This Indian restaurant has a lot to compete with in the area
• It specialises in north indian food but the restaurant is East African owned
• The staff are extremely friendly and although it was quiet we didn't feel there was a lack of atmosphere
• The kitchen is fronted by a large glass panel so you can watch all your food being cooked it means no stale popadoms lurking on the top shelfs
• The restaurant was quiet when we arrived
• The usual poppadoms quickly arrived at the table which were lovely and fragrant
• Piping hot and fluffy with lots of flavour and a good coating of butter
• The south Indian pilau rice was much the same but instead bursting with subtle spices
• The first impression is that the environment is a bit unimpressive for a restaurant of its price band
• Combined with a bottle of white wine it was all in all a dinner lovely dinner
• The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable of the Northern Indian menu ad also accommodating
• Meaning the ones with gravy and had more dishes without sauce
• Our starter was also nice garlic mushrooms and the must have papodums
• I will definitely go back since there is more of the menu I would like to sample
• Proper entrance is round the back on chavel road
• We had a few things on the menu I don't recall names sorry but it was all fantastic
• Another pleasantly surprising thing for a restaurant in London was the friendly service from the waiters
• The best bit though was we got a doggy bag of what we couldn't finish and has the same again fir lunch the day after
• With a hint of Kenyan taste mixed with the Indian food
• The dishes are unique and quite frankly
• The interior is quite old and not very extravagant
• The service is good and the staff are very friendly
• The restaurant itself is very quiet
• Staff were excellent and food was very authentic and not too spicy
• I would have given a higher rating but the chicken was a little rubbery so had to mark down for that
• I could see the restaurant is popular with large groups also booking and it is located very close to Knightsbridge tube as well
• Just a hop away from Harrods is this beautifully set Indian restaurants
• The Daal Makhni and the Chicken Mackhni are incredible
• The star of the show by far is the black daal
• The waiter explained is stewed overnight for maximum taste
• The naan bread is also incredible
• It was obvious that our waiter was almost infatuated with the food he was serving because he told us in great detail the length it takes for the food to come out that good
• He explained that everything is taken into great measure
• The Dum Aloo Kashmiri and Onion Masala Rice is a must have
• Our choice of Haandi was just to perfect
• Everything was very tasty
• Year's ago this was my favourite restaurant
• Their baingan curry is very good with lots of whole small aubergines
• We ordered popadums to graze on whilst waiting for our food they were very oily but the green chutney served on the side was delicious
• Mains we went for the chicken biryani and punjabi chicken curry with white rice
• The sevice was quite slow
• When asked for the price it was told to us that it is £
• 3 but at the end when the bill was on our table
• The ambience is also quite good with some creepers and indoor potted plants
