Giovanni Rana Restaurant (Regent's Park)

• Sixty six guests were expected and we took over the restaurant
• Giovanni Rana Restaurant (Regent's Park) is usually empty mid week and I wonder what it is like weekends
• The starters are uninspiring
• Had parmigiana and bacon fritters which were over powered with cheese and no ham
• I asked for glass of Chianti at 9.50 gbp for a 125ml was horrendously expensive and did not match the price
• Ravioli with ngiri sausage and sage was very good though
• So get people eating the pasta at half price and there is a little treasure here
• An aperitivo is a pre dinner drink and usually these small places serve a buffet of simple dishes that you can eat as much as you like with your drink
• The entrance is ten pounds and with that you get a drink from a choice of wine
• Thankfully the food is topped up very quickly and there is plenty to round
• The buffet is served by two servers and you are given small plates which are filled up very generously
• If you arrive at 7/7.30 there is a good chance you will get a table to eat at
• We started off with snacks such as bruschetta
• The second round was a selection of hot ravioli in different sauces
• The food was simple but good value for ten pounds and a great opportunity to mingle with friends and new people
