Calcutta Street (Fitzrovia)

• Sadly certain ingredients are tough to get
• When we arrived the place was already fairly booked out and it stayed that way until we left
• The design and layout of Calcutta street is very cute and endearing
• Went to this restaurant for dinner with my a group of friends just cause I'm Bengali and from Calcutta
• The portions too were barely enough
• The sea bass was a good alternative to the usual bhetki
• That conceit is slightly different at Calcutta Street though
• Aubergine slices in gram flour came with an astounding mustard sauce
• Calcutta Street (Fitzrovia) is well on its way to becoming the Bengali Hoppers
• Wish the owners would up the quality of the offer to match the price it is being offered at
• We went for lunch and the hospitality of the staff is worth mentioning
• We started with Aam pora sorbet(Green mango sorbet)
• Kosha Mangsho(Mutton curry) with Luchi(Puffed bread)
• I am surely going to Calcutta Street again and Prawn Malaikari is on my list
• So don't be at all surprised if you are served the "
• We had several of them such that they ran out of green apple and had them replaced with plum slices instead
• I only post a review when I am very dissatisfied with the price and quality of the food
• Because my partner who is from Calcutta was very excited to try out this restaurant which claims to have been inspired by Calcutta food
• Since I am not one to mince words all I can say the whole experience was a very big disappointment
• 3 small prawn pieces along with its shells) and rice items everything else was bland
• Got it back from the kitchen and was told it was supposed to taste that way

• I don't expect biryani to be cooked fresh in a restaurant but being served black pieces of lamb that were obviously overcooked and burnt and costing a whopping 12£
• The Kosha Mangsho was filled with bone pieces lacking meat and it lacked flavor
• I am not one to waste food no matter how bad it is as long as it's edible (that would be one way to describe our dinner ) so I did finish it with a bad after taste
• Went there with high expectations about authentic Bengali food
• Much of what else we ordered was bland and overpriced
• The London's restaurant scene has a lot of fads this is one such restaurant
