Loved the margaritas (you deserve a 4 just for that) at Cafe Pacifico (Covent Garden) though standing in the bar which was more of a narrow alley was very painful
-
I had the chicken Chimichanga and there were no surprises there
-
The seating area of the restaurant is pretty crammed and it is not uncommon for waiters or patrons to bump into you if you flair your arms too much
-
Only problem is that the bar and standing area is so narrow
-
A favourite dish is always the chicken fajitas
-
Great ambience with a constant buzz
-
Now mexican is not my first choice
-
It was probably our best decision over the past 24 hours *ahem*
-
Both the duck and the scallops were cooked very well and I was quite happy about the vegetables that were part of the dish
-
The size of the dish was definitely my favourite part of that lunch
-
Before going I also had a look at the reviews and was particularly excited about trying the margaritas
-
So delicious and comes with plenty of sides&hellip
-
Best fresh lemonade with agave and freshly squeezed limes
-
The restaurant is huge so we had no problem getting a table at lunch time
-
I had the Chicken Fajitas which were infallible
-
Plates were laid before me with sauces and flour tortillas and refried beans and the meat was served on a skillet that was still sizzling when it arrived at my table
-
My server very graciously offered to pack up my remaining food so I could take it home with me and offered the dessert menu which I regretfully declined (I'm itching to try their deep fried ice cream
-
My experience in Cafe Pacifico was a mixed bag
-
The place itself was baeutiful and vibrant
-
The mango mohito I had was tremendous and the rest of my party commented the same about their respective cocktails
-
I ordered the enchiladas san blas and it was entirely devoid of flavour
-
Perhaps it was just my dish
-
Bar staff are knowledgeable which is a bonus as I had plenty of questions about their extensive tequila and mezcal list
-
Served on the rocks and I was happy to note that their house tequila with which said drinks were assembled
-
I can't honestly say there was one single dish that stood out
-
Everything came served with a pile of rice scattered with a mist of beige cheese and dusted with morose
-
The speed with which it arrived was testimony to the fast food vibe
-
If I had one positive word to say it was that the scallops weren't bad
-
One of my favourites very casual space with a good range of drinks and good mexican food
-
I usually go here with friends for drinks
-
The service is quick and much better than most London restaurants
-
True authentic food from Mahico with an amazing collection of cocktails
-
Attentive staff with good customer service
-
The bartenders are very passionate and informed
-
Salsas could have done with a bit more heat for me
-
Once again Zomato were kind enough to invite us to a foodie meet up
-
This restaurant is allegedly the first Mexican restaurant in the UK and at 33 years of age has stood the test of time
-
This evening it was the house margarita which proved a nice precursor to the tequila history lesson from our excellent host Francisco
-
Ordinarily one might wander off at this point after a busy day's work and with the help of a cheeky couple of tequilas
-
Our minds' eyes were led to the agave fields of Mexico and through the tequila and mezcal production process
-
This time the Estes cocktail was much more forgiving on the pallet
-
The first round of dishes were a series of chilli
-
Bean and salsa dips surrounded by beef and chicken tacos that were quickly pounced upon
-
The chilli dip added a nice bit of kick to the taco wraps with the beef steak cooked to perfection and with a really smoky bite
-
It was the refried bean dip that I kept going back to which I'm sure contained more beef hidden in it's depths (unless someone was a bit clumsy with their taco
-
I can only imagine they were good as they vanished pretty quickly without getting a sample myself
-
In a more civilised fashion I waited to use a dish and crack on with the beef and chorizo filling
-
The chicken was again a little underwhelming
-
The lively atmosphere and the ice cold sol I had to wash it all down at the end are likely to have me coming back
-
Experience with Cafe Pacifico starts with the location
-
Cafe Pacifico (Covent Garden) is like an oasis for someone thirsty for tequila or hungry for some Mexican burrito
-
Where you possibly would like to go before a wild nigh out to warm up your mood with some pre drinks or after party for your "
-
Cafe Pacifico is your choice
-
Even Wednesday is Tequila night and arriving at Cafe Pacifico I am launched straight into learning about all the history of Tequila and it's origins from the Agave plant
-
Tequila drinking would normally be frowned upon on a Wednesday evening but we successfully clouded that part in the name of research and the brilliant part is I even remembered most of it
-
I have tasted some fantastic tequilas before and have been told the Mexicans usually keep the best for themselves and export the rest
-
I'd previously assumed it was kind of a cheap alcohol and been put off by the marketing gimmicks of the worm (now no longer popular)
-
The plants usually take around 10 years to mature but they are currently too fast and thus developing less sugar to be converted to alcohol
-
Couple of favourite items from what we had were the scallops served in tequila sauce and the beef fajitas with chorizo worked really well too
-
Cafe Pacifico is London's first Mexican cantina and opened back in 1982
-
Serving a selection of modern and authentic mexican food cafe it's easy to see why it was packed out even on a Wednesday evening
-
Thanks to the lovely people at Zomato I was fortunate to head down to Cafe Pacifico and sample some of their cocktails and delicious food
-
As I entered the restaurant/bar I was handed a refreshing mojito which was soon followed by a talk about the history of Cafe Pacifico and some of their tequilas
-
Whilst listening we were given samples of their Mexican Fare and Mescal
-
The latter of which is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from the maguey plant native to Mexico
-
To accompany our drinks we had plain nachos with refried beans
-
Guacamole to dip them into which was soon followed by shrimp
-
Pork and beef tacos as well as scallops that were embedded in a tomato and tequila sauce
-
The food highlight of the night was definitely the fajitas
-
Beef (absolutely delicious I was scraping the plate with my fork) and vegetarian (always good to get some of those greens in the system
-
The dishes came with mixed peppers and onions
-
The dishes especially the beef were extremely filling and flavoursome and you can easily be full up after two fajitas with all the accompaniments
-
The meal was washed down with a fresh and fruity cocktail which consisted of tequila (of course)
-
A fun and educational evening (on alcohol) I would definitely recommend Cafe Pacifico to anyone with a hearty appetite and who fancies some authentic Mexican food
-
The atmosphere is buzzy and unpretentious (for instance
-
From punchy Margarita to drinkable without a chaser tequila (which I didn't know was possible) and smoky mezcal
-
The drinks are top quality
-
Cafe pacifico is apparently the first Mexican restaurant to cross the ocean and arrive on our shores some 30 years ago so have had a bit of a head start compared to the other newer pretenders
-
So for someone to take the time to share their knowledge of tequila and mezcal and the process of how it came to tickle my taste buds is a real honour and why this establishment deserves recognition
-
This restaurant is not one I&rsquo
-
I thought it was about time to publicly invite you and your taste buds on this journey in to Cafe Pacifico &ndash
-
As you walk in the door opens in to an open plan room filled with wooden chairs and a bar &ndash
-
During peak hours the place is absolutely bubbling over &ndash
-
T think there is anything worse in life than soggy nachos &ndash
-
Their salsa is amazing though
-
Strawberry is the absolute queen of the fruit margaritas if you ask me
-
Ll start to see that the prices are a little on the higher side (most meals averaging out to about £
-
Not to mention the portion sizes are pretty decent as your meal usually comes with rice and refried beans
-
The fact that last time I was in there Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl was chilling in there (honestly
-
That melted cheese is just life changing
-
The combination dip is a little pricey for the portion size
-
S a great way to introduce someone to a few of the flavours with only one plate
-
The burrito has refried beans in it and is covered in ranchera sauce
-
Where as the enchilada is filled with cheese and onions and is topped with an enchilada sauce (obviously with your chosen poultry/meat)
-
The melted cheese in the enchilada was the foundation for what kept my little corn tortilla together
-
Cafe Pacifico is a great place to drop in to after a long day at work
-
Around the summer time they open the front windows to let in the fresh air and sunshine (the front is almost reminiscent of a balcony
-
My friend I went with last time wasn&rsquo
-
Homely and flavoursome food is something you have to experience
-
Cafe pacifico is not the easiest of places to get to if you are driving as finding parking in that area is a nightmare
-
Tucked away in a side street which is not so 'busy'
-
I could tell this was a pretty popular place
-
I arrived a little late for the event and was immediately handed a Tequila shot that cleared all the cobwebs in my head
-
The bar staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about their drinks and food
-
They prepared some nice cocktails (margaritas were lovely) and we enjoyed some excellent mexican food
-
Cor in Cafe Pacifico is incredibly cosy and authentic
-
A big get together with lots of friends
-
Or a more intimate table with just one or two other people
-
The setting is very simplistic and rustic
-
Given good advice on what is good on the menu
-
Nonetheless they were still good
-
Though what I did love about the meal was that it's as if you just went to your mexican grandmother's house
-
So the meal was not overly expensive by any means
-
Though if I were near Cafe Pacifico (Covent Garden)
-
American bar/diner atmosphere that is created inside
-
Loud music plays and sports games are shown on a t
-
To drink I always share a jug of iced margarita with friends which you can order in different flavours
-
The burritos and tacos are an obvious choice
-
I would also recommend the scallops which come in an unusual rich sauce and are beautifully cooked
-
Great place to come for a fun birthday dinner with a big group of friends
-
Cafe Pacifico is a great place to come for a celebratory meal or before a night out because of it's excellent location in the heart of Covent Garden
-
The cocktails here are tasty and refreshing
-
A large bowl of guacamole dip is a whopping £
-
6.50 but many other dishes are reasonably priced
-
There are a lot of gimmicky Mexican restaurants around London and although Cafe Pacifico (Covent Garden) charges a bit more it feels a lot more authentic and food is very good quality
-
Try the delicious Nachos Rancheros with all the melted cheese and peppers and do not miss the Beef Fajitas (they come with a burning pot and the meat is cooked perfectly
-
The avocado is fresh and tasty
-
At first I thought of it as shady with the entrance through an ally in Convent Garden but the first look of the place changed my opinion
-
Placed quickly on a table and their idea to serve nachos and salsa for quick bites while deciding upon our order was quiet impressive
-
Food was served quickly and was piping hot
-
The mango Brie Quesadilla is definitely worth the money
-
Glad to have discovered Cafe Pacifico (Covent Garden) which is a bit hidden from the Main Street so can be missed easily
-
Good Mexican food is notoriously hard to find in London
-
It has a really casual and laid back vibe and the food is really good
-
The margaritas are great and a visit isn&rsquo
-
I have it on good authority that the burritos are amazing too
-
We waited for 50 mins for our turn which was really irritating
-
The food was decent and there were good options for vegan lovers also
-
This is a great place to meet up with friends and drink cocktails
-
So if you want a great atmosphere to hook up with friends then this will be perfect
-
Great atmosphere and friendly staff we are certainly coming back there
-
The only disappointment is the guacamole its lack of flavour and spices as well but the nachos and salsa are great
-
Love their chips and salsa sauce as well which is served as treatment
-
Cafe Pacifo is a perfect place to go with friends who are used to seeing you pig out
-
The fajita comes with something like 5 tortillas and loads of fillers guac
-
Clearly a great place to go with your friends
-
Don't go on a date here as your partner will think you are a massive glutton
-
Stone's throw from Covent Garden tube station it is really easy to get to and let friends know of
-
Check the spice levels as the salsa is quite spicy
-
Their cocktails are large and good
-
Food we ordered the ensalada mexicana which was a lovely salad with brilliant Mexican flavours and prawns
-
Smoked chicken quesadilla and classic nachos with sour cream
-
Onions and pineapple with the meat was excellent
-
The place has a lovely Mexican vibe and is well located
