Akari (Islington)

• It's dark and mysterious interior with the mismatched dark mahogany chairs and scuffed up tables only add to it's charm
• One of the waitresses was happily cradling the baby of one of them while the parent's gladly ate in peace
• The atmosphere here is so relaxed it's almost lethargic
• Pork Katsu served with Boiled Rice £
• Even the accompaniment of boiled of rice was a decent size
• You know the pork katsu is cooked to perfection when the golden panko encasement is crispy
• Without being oily and and retains the moisture of the pork so well that it's whole surface area is juicy with every single bite
• Then Akari is all you need

• This means that the restaurant is often crowded and you should definitely make a reservation otherwise you'll either be sent away or they'll make you wait 30 40 minutes
• The restaurant is nice but not pretentious and the service is quite good
• We didn't have a reservation so they sat us down at the sushi bar which was quite nice
• We also tried the chicken Katsu which was made in their own sauce and was really delicious
• I suffer from diagnosed severe anxiety and panic disorder and find it very uncomfortable to sit in the middle of people or places where there is lots of hustle going on

• I used to enjoy visiting Akari at Islington and the food was presented in a very Japanese way and delicious
• This didn't happen and the tables were still unoccupied when we left at 9
• My biggest concern was the 'English' garnishes of lettuce leaves
• Service that was once so favourable
