The Admiral Codrington (South Kensington)

• The Admiral Codrington is extremely hidden and tucked away in the back roads in fashionable Chelsea
• Traditional pub with dark wooden cladding
• I was about to place my order at the bar and take a seat when we were told that our table was around the side in the restaurant
• We were seated in one of their booths which was very America and a unexpected addition to the venue
• Very comfy and I could have stayed here all day with the large jug of delicious Pimms we ordered
• Fred Smith so it was about time I got round to sampling the delight
• I think to date is the most expensive burger I have had
• Compared to its other competitors it is definitely not trying to compete in a price war
• In my opinion it is well worth the £
• The brioche bun is extremely light and fluffy with perfect bun to meat ratio
• Not overpowering the meat while the Bacon (which was not too salty) adds richness and complexity
• The Admiral Codrington is located on Mossop Street
• This visit it was time to try the much lauded Admiral Codrington Cheeseburger
• It's a delightfully soft cheese with a mild flavour and at the Cod they sprinkle Maldon rock salt over the top
• Add a basil oil (along with fresh basil and marinated peppers) which makes for a divine yet light starter
• The presentation is a shiny brioche bun
• A recent addition to these toppings is the addition of a spoonful of the burger juices applied to the inside of the bun lid
• The 8oz patties at the Ad Cod are a combination of 50% chuck
• They are pure beef with no seasoning added until just before cooking
• The burger bun used at the Admiral Codrington is the classic Miller's of Wimbledon brioche bun
• A thin layer of tomato reduction is applied to both the insides
• Fred's secret ingredient in this dish is the addition of a swirl of hollandaise sauce just before topping off with parmesan and finishing off under the grill
• This burger is only the second that has received the Burger Me
• Full marks rating and it is bloody well deserved
• 15 for a burger with chips was a bit much too but then again
• I love that the beautifully toasted bun and the meat is seriously good quality
• The cheese is melted perfectly too
• It's definitely a good burger but I suppose there are other burgers in London that I find better these days
• I truly recommend it if you are around this area
• Fantastic little discovery for myself abd two friends that were visiting from out kf town
• Quality of sunday roast still on point even with a 5pm sunday booking
• This South Ken pub was a local for me when it came to a quick pub lunch
• Chips is the best that I have ever eaten anywhere and in fact
• On a Friday evening it was pretty full and really loud (as one would expect from an after work crowd)
• As soon as I mentioned I had a reservation I was lead back to a modern
• Refurbished area in the back that was just enough off the main pub area that the loud crowd was a mere hum of noise
• As underneath a really good layer of cheesy mash was a seafood medley in a rather spicy curry sauce
• Came with a side of carrots which were polished off pretty quickly as well
