Under the Stairs (Old Town)

• The cocktails are good but the food's a bit disappointing
• I've been in once for an evening meal and was really disappointed
• It was so busy and the seating really is crammed in
• Both my friend and I got the steak and weren't impressed by or roast veg it was accompanied by
• Some of the veg was uncooked on the inside and there wasn't enough of it
• Selection of beer is a positive thing
• The ambiance is quite cozy and has mixed styled furnishing
• Maybe because it is quite close to my work
• UNder the Stairs is one of my fave places for an after work gathering
• The location is a very cool basement
• I'm not a garlic fan but it was outstanding and also beautiful
• Upon arrival we entered what was a rather dark venue and may well be better suited to winter rather than summer dining
• I ended up going for the pitta bread with dips followed by loin of venison
• Also those ordering steak were a little miffed that they had to order chips separately
• The staff were very accommodating with a member of our group who was going to be late and let us put in a later food order for him
• The dips themselves were suntouched (
• I thought these were all of a good standard but particularly like the tomato one
• Onto the mains and my venison was a generous portion of meat
• The celeriac puree was tasty and the accompanying broccoli was roasted to give it an extra element of flavour
• The berry jus was not too watery and as expected
• Was perfect with the venison
• I had been asked how I wanted the meat cooked and I asked for rare but this was closer to medium
• There's vegetarian options are always a little bit interesting
• I opted for the burger and sweet potatoes fries with the hot salsa side sauce
• On the pittas with the three pates and (again) the sweet potato fries
• Fries portion is great for the price
• The vegetarian sharing board was one of the best meals I&rsquo
• Every dish was perfectly balanced
