The Safari Lounge (Meadowbank)

• Except the walls are painted a subtle tangerine and white taken together all vaguely reminiscent of a liquorice all sort
• At the end of its subtly trendy replacement is a small kitchen &ndash
• It became apparent that the place is much bigger than I had realised
• That is when I realised why The Safari Lounge (Meadowbank) is confident enough to site an open kitchen at the end of the bar
• S a menu put together with real care and thought
• Consisted of beautifully succulent meat with vinaigrette coleslaw
• Both mains were served with a generous accompaniment of freshly prepared
• My popcorn mussels were a revelation
• Crisp on the outside and with a soft interior
• This quirky bar and eatery is located in a much neglected end of Edinburgh
• A couple of Saturdays back we were off to see our first fringe show
• The brilliant Jimeoin (I thought his what seemed to be mostly unscripted / chaotic stand up routine was hilarious and would definitely recommend you go see him)
• The only reason I even knew of The Safari Lounge was thanks to some free beer tokens I had received a couple of weeks previous from Heverlee
• The Safari Lounge is situated in Abbeyhill
• The guy serving us was really friendly and apologetic about our wait for the food which wasn't long at all
• Only issue was when we went the back had been booked out and there wasn't much space left
• The first day I moved to Edinburgh I was looking for a place to eat with a fellow (semi) vegetarian friend and we found The Safari Lounge (Meadowbank) by accident and we have sworn we would go back
• Because it was absolutely delicious food
• We even got to talk a little bit with the guy making the food
• This was middle of the afternoon so we were the only one there
• When I walk by it during the evening I can see it seems like a hip place since it is always full
• The deco and atmosphere inside is super eclectic and industrial
• The caramelised onions are super 'melty'
• Especially with a world cup football match on tv
• Did not stay for a second drink though as the first round was quite expensive
• Very reasonably priced with lovely staff
