  • I can't pretend to have been to an exhaustive number of them the house bread is the first thing that passes your lips

  • Fresh focaccia over any number of regional Italian specialities made with any less than someone's full attention

  • I only mention any of this because the bread at Tozi was alternately cold

  • Then there was something else missing not as bitter

  • Each were served pretty smartly by friendly staff who rushed about with commendable energy

  • 13.50 when you bear in mind that Polpo's is at least twice this amount for £

  • Veal ravioli was pleasant enough

  • 6.75 for three pieces seeming almost a bargain in comparison with what had preceeded

  • So maybe my problem isn't with Tozi at all

  • To some extent Tinello although they are constrained by the part of town in which they operate the results are often extraordinary

  • Experimentation is welcomed with open arms

  • People like Forza Win put on fantastic popup Italian events that are nothing like anyone else is doing

  • One of the joys of starting a new job are 'welcome drinks'

  • Tozi is a great place to congregate with colleagues or a crew of friends for a post work drink

  • It means the journey home is pretty easy for everyone

  • A bar at the front for those happy with a liquid dinner

  • We were well attended to by the waiting staff and were quite free to take over a large majority of the front bar

  • The waitress was keen to keep our glasses filled and went running for extra bottles as soon as she saw the last drops being poured into someone's glass

  • Invited me down I knew it was time for the journey

  • Food service is split between two open kitchens

  • We went on a Thursday night and the atmosphere was buzzing with couples on dates

  • Groups of girls catching up and post work diners yet service was impeccable

  • I eagerly seek out Puglian wines on menus and Tozi didn't disappoint with a lovely bottle of Nero di Troia

  • Melt in the mouth smooth with fennel and star anise running through

  • Accompanying this was the burrata (another thing I always order if it's on the menu) which came deliciously creamy and with just enough give

  • Stracchino and rocket and tuna tartare with lots of fresh lime

  • These dishes couldn't have been more different from each other but they worked so well the classic Italian flavours of meat and cheese were complemented by the zingy freshness of the fish

  • The buffalo ricotta ravioli with black truffle was criminally smooth

  • Rich and buttery simple enough ingredients but cooked so well we were lost in mutual appreciation for quite some time

  • The wild mushroom cannelloni was pleasingly earthy with the flavours of the fungi coming through the creamy

  • Our last two dishes were the gratinated scallop

  • The scallop was cooked just right and topped with a crisp crust and a swirl of salsa verde

  • The braised ox cheeks with girolles and red wine sauce was his clear winner the meat was deliciously soft and melted right off the tongue

  • The red wine sauce was more of a jus

  • Balancing the creaminess of the mash potatoes with just enough richness to bring the whole dish together in what was probably S's plate of the night

  • I'll admit that my expectations of Tozi were mixed before I visited as the website seriously underplays how good Tozi (Victoria) is

  • I've been there to see Billy Eliot and when the show was finished and we were

  • Don't know the area is quite difficult to spot immediately a good place to eat

  • So the idea is dish sharing

  • Fritto misto was too oily I think

  • Wine is expensive but sharing a bottle if four was fine in the end

  • The fig tart was very interesting

  • In general is very good to talk

  • The design is modern and tables are spacious

  • Is not exactly 20 each but you get very good food and I was quite satisfied

  • If you love to eat a lot is probably not your place

  • I would probably o back for another chatty night with friends again

  • ) we started with a cheeky glass of wine (with me being very conscious that I had present myself as a reputable British citizen in a mere matter of hours to collect my passport

  • The service was a little slow and could have been more attentive

  • Drinks are made with inventive and with high quality of alcohol

  • Venetian concept with modern look

  • The layout it lovely with a good view of the kitchen itself

  • It was a tapasesque restaurant although the prices were very steep given the portion s and although the food was by no means bad I do believe that it is very overpriced

  • Of course doesn't include the service charge which is almost another tenner in itself

  • Course if the food was worth it I wouldn't point this out at all

  • The calamari was well fried to a good crisp which I think is very important but again this was a lick and a promise

  • The waiter did state the main meal price is a bigger portion but I can't see how double this amount would be classed as a main meal

  • There was a pizzetta and a poulet which were both of good quality but nothing to write home about

  • The recommended cocktails which were supposed to be sweet were bitter

  • They tend to constantly be about where you feel you can't have a proper discussion with your friend without them hovering over you

  • My friend Gina always discovers some of the best spots in London for a good meal and in the last couple of years we have been dining out together to try out some of these spots of good food

  • Tozi in Victoria does not disappoint and is fairly authentic

  • After a six hour lunch / drinks with old friends

  • Interesting menu with small but high quality tapas style sharing portions

  • Bocca Di Lupo is one that immediately springs to mind that does the Italian sharing concept oh so well

  • The restaurant is spacious and comfortable and has a contemporary rustic feel to it

  • The baby chicken was also good and the accompanying gravy was rich and hearty

  • Summer salad was very refreshing and the big truffle risotto plate at the end was simply sensational

  • I just wished they had more pizza and pasta options in the menu as it seemed too crammed with appetizer dishes instead

  • Finished it off with a delightful almond mille feuille

  • The only criticism is that some of the staff must get some pep talk in the beginning of the day "

  • All the staff was so friendly and helpful to the way that I asked for a fruit salad (not on the menu) and they made it for me

  • The food is served in small portions and they are quite tasty
