Tonic & Remedy (Shoreditch)

• Floor to ceiling windows with a view of Moorfields Eye Hospital
• The front section near the window was fully occupied on a Tuesday night and acoustics were fine
• I am not sure how noisy it would be if the restaurant area was really packed
• We started with caesar salad croquettes and smashed squash and kale
• My own order of squash and kale turned out to be a brown bruschetta with mashed squash and a few bits of sauteed kale
• Wild mushroom and peas was really good
• The sauteed chanterelles on top were tasty and the dish was dressed with some herb infused oil
• My only complaint was that the rice was maybe a little too al dente
• The steak despite being very rare was strangely dense
• So were happy to see that the cheapest bottle of red was only £
• I did like the way that wine by the glass was served from a little laboratory decanter
• Remedy championed itself using well sourced herbs and spices with a modern and creative touch in its cooking

• Remedy concept is a nod to Shoreditch as a historical home to apothecaries
• Makes for drinking and eating with a dash of theatrics
• Start with a Lady Marmalade champagne cocktail enriched with jamminess or the Summer Negroni
• Ll leave you just as heady (and perhaps with the warm glow) so order some small plates
• Jelly and scones are excitingly good
• Rhubarb chutney and toasted brioche is a decadent treat
• Deliciously balanced and with a marshmallow foam
• Use the drinks menu to woo your date with a bit of magic (menu headings include &lsquo

• Work your way through the menu because this is very special eating and drinking
• Although the menu of mixology and gastronomy is inventive and quirky &ndash
