  • After having tested many speakeasy bars because I love this concept I can assure that this is by far the best of all

  • The entrance is top top secret

  • The selection of cocktails is the most original I've ever known

  • The decoration is tasteful with all details well thought out

  • I understand why it is necessary to book several weeks in advance

  • Definitely the best place I ever been since I'm in London

  • Some nights they are Jazz band playing

  • It has to be the best cocktail place in London I have ever been to

  • The selection of cocktails is extensive to say the least

  • They are top class to taste and presentation is great as well

  • We had booked a table with the music live band

  • The only criticism I have of the place is how hard it is to get a reservation on Friday or Saturday night

  • The cocktails made at The Nightjar are truly a work of art

  • Often with garnishes that are practically a meal of themselves

  • As it's a speakeasy bar that comes with a heavy dose of jazz several nights a week

  • My next drink was the Toreador

  • I was back on form with my last drink though the Airmail featuring orange blossom honey water and champagne

  • Alison's last cocktail was a rival to my first

  • Early evening slots are quite easy to come by

  • It is pretty obvious at night due to the queue and sore thumb doorman (Opium and Ballroom du Beef are also guilty of this hidden bar crime)

  • You instantly forget what neighbourhood you are in once you make it downstairs

  • The background jazz was already much better than most bars manage

  • Miles Davis' sweat etc etc) with some free popcorn to keep us happy whilst we tried to make the tough first cocktail decision

  • We steered clear since all the drinks are beautifully presented anyway

  • We started with two Waldorf Gloom Lifters (served in Hip Flasks on ice)

  • Al's Shrubbler came with an edible fruit basket (think creme brulee topping) containing his five a day

  • Jo's Nougat Cocktail came with lightly singed white chocolate

  • We had a taster of the very drinkable Ysabel Regina brandy that was used to make it

  • As you can see from some of the cards below (which are slightly out of date)

  • Nightjar is quite comfortably one of London's best cocktail bars

  • If any of these terms sound vaguely familiar or attractive to you then Night Jar is one bar in London you definitely should pay a visit

  • The only thing you need to do is get yourself a tube to old street roundabout (if you don&rsquo

  • It literally is a small door in the middle of the hustle bustle of old street shops/ take away&rsquo

  • You get there and knock on the door (like you were going to visit your friend&rsquo

  • S flat) and then you are greeted by a gentleman/ woman (dressed like they belong to the 1920&rsquo

  • Once you reach the basement you are taken to a different world all together &ndash

  • A wooden stage on which a four piece jazz band was playing their hearts out

  • Thank god I made an effort to put on a nice dress and some pearls otherwise I would have felt ridiculously under dressed (If you are ever in a mood to dress up

  • There was a live jazz band blasting music and they were mighty good &ndash

  • I took to the dance floor with my friends after I had a couple of those funky looking bad boys (cocktails)

  • Glass coated with cinnamon and chocolate

  • Nightjar is the best place if you want to relax in East London

  • T messing around with its prohibition theme &ndash

  • Book ahead though as drop ins are usually awkwardly turned down (we speak from experience)

  • The Night Jar is a special place for cocktail lovers and jazz music fans

  • Surely the best bar in East London

  • The entrance to the bar marked by a small gold plaque embossed with the nightjar itself

  • This subtle entrance is in stark comparison to the high energy feel the place has downstairs

  • There is a focus on quality with the mixology here

  • The cocktails are well mixed with care and attention

  • Often served with flamboyance

  • A large silver top hat presented to us with all sorts of fireworks and straw arrangements arrived at the table and that large top hat tasted real good and real strong

  • Buzzing and exciting bar area which is immediately reminiscent of a scene from Buggsy Malone

  • The ingredients are all premium and the flavours are incredible

  • The prices are immensely reasonable

  • The cocktails are all immensely visually appealing

  • The bar tenders are obviously keen to create a spectacle

  • The staff and crowd at nightjar are immensely friendly and un pretentious

  • To my pleasant surprise we were instantly shown a table and then

  • Cor make Nightjar are true London gem

  • You see a dimly lit room with loud music

  • Servers are on hand to help you find a table if there is availability however it gets incredibly busy on the weekend

  • The cocktails are quirky and edgy

  • Hides the third best bar in the world Night Jar

  • The interiors was good but the major problem was with the service

  • It is a shame that the staff is so skilled

  • Another downside was that not all the items on the menu were available for service which meant our choice was limited

  • The quality of the food was very low and it didn't look presentable

  • The prices then charged are pretty unfair

  • They make some pretty good cheese burgers accompanying with perfectly cooked hand cut fries

  • Decor of the place is simple and soothing

  • The service is brilliant and the atmosphere welcoming

  • Will go back here soon and would recommend it to all if you are in the area

  • Honey and sesame chicken is my favorite from The Nightjar (Hoxton)

  • Service as well is prompt and highly efficient

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) was one of the highlights when i was in the city and i am thankful that i was here

  • The experience is one of a kind and i highly recommend it to people

  • The interiors and the ambiance is like transporting the customers to a time in the past around the 30s and 50s

  • A genuinely amazing test for a cocktail bar is to request for drinks that are not on the menu

  • Found that the Hemmingway Daiquiri and the Mint Julep that I ordered were both extremely average

  • The drinks were excessively garnished

  • The tastes were unimpressive

  • I recently tried The Nightjar (Hoxton) and was quite offended with the service

  • The ambience was quite good as most of the crowd was young

  • The service was pretty slow and indifferent

  • I would not like to go back to The Nightjar (Hoxton) again as there are many other options where there is good food and service

  • I noticed that the staff was a little impolite

  • The decorations were like a work of art

  • The staff was immaculate and were giving just the required amount of attention

  • We were asked to leave much earlier than we were supposed to

  • I am new to the cocktail drinking circuit and that is why maybe The Nightjar (Hoxton) has impressed me easily

  • The ambience of the place was lively and I was amused by the live music

  • It is a long set trend that they are religiously following

  • The service is amicable and attentive

  • The music that plays in the background goes perfectly with the easy going atmosphere of the place

  • It is one of the best bars I have ever been to it

  • The atmosphere is great here

  • The cocktails are phenomenal and there is an extensive range available

  • The crowd here is also quite good

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is very different

  • The decor inside is very hip and trendy along with being unpretentious and the ambiance of the place compliments it

  • The drinks were quite different and very refreshing from the ordinary and clearly made of some very good ingredients

  • All the drinks I had were very delectable

  • This restaurant is trying way too hard

  • They have a very extensive menu with some of the most unique and ballsy drinks

  • The second was just to confirm that the first round was not bad by mistake

  • The loud music just really was not conducive to a conversation

  • I agree that there is always a waiting at this pub

  • The options for drinks are galore and one is almost spoilt for choices The bar staff comes up with some cool concoctions which will not leave you disappointed

  • The atmosphere was electric and I must say that The Nightjar (Hoxton) also hosts good music

  • The menu was quite an extensive one and the cocktails that we had were absolutely amazing

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is amazing according to me

  • The ambiance is very amazing

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is little American Styled and i really love that

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is kind of hidden so so do not loose hope if you are not able to find The Nightjar (Hoxton)

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is the first one about which I do not really know what to say

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is a bit over the top and over done

  • I really am in love with the authenticity of their taste

  • The music collection and the selection of songs played is mind blowing

  • The service they provided was very quick and efficient

  • The personality of The Nightjar (Hoxton) is quite exquisite

  • I loved my drink which was made of seaweed rim and squid ink

  • The ambience was wonderful and the place is not that expensive too

  • If you want to go and have some amazingly creative cocktails then this is the place to be

  • They surely do have some of the best cocktails and wonderful ambiance will make you want to visit again and again

  • I booked The Nightjar (Hoxton) for the four of us last week and was surprised to find out that a couple of tables were empty when we got it

  • The atmosphere of the place is amazing and the place is generally buzzing with people

  • Though the prices are a little high

  • The cocktails tasted amazing and the food was pretty decent as well

  • There was a wide range of pretty interesting and innovative options on the drinks menu but none of them was quite satisfying

  • The staff was not able to handle large crowds as the place was cramped with people

  • The ambience was quite bad as The Nightjar (Hoxton) is quite noisy and not that hygienic either

  • What i did not know at the time was that my of my guests would be cajoled and pressured in to pre ordering cocktails etc

  • We found out that the pre ordered cocktails were served quickly whereas the others were brought in with a long delay

  • Another glitch was that at the time of payment

  • I was pretty sure about the right amount of notes however the server was not convinced and asked us to pay more

  • I believe this is the best place to have cocktails

  • The three or for rum filled masterpiece that I had recently was an absolute lovely thing to taste

  • The drinks were absolutely delicious and you won't find anything like this is London

  • The jazz band that was performing that night did a great job as well and managed to entertain us pretty nicely

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is one of the best places in the city

  • I went here with three other people and I can easily say that I was so impressed by The Nightjar (Hoxton) that I plan to celebrate my birthday here

  • The atmosphere is very unique to The Nightjar (Hoxton) and has a very relaxing ambiance

  • I found the staff here to be very helpful and knowledeable along with being quick and attentive

  • The bloody mary here is something everyone must have

  • The other cocktails were quite nice too

  • The Nightjar (Hoxton) is highly recommended

  • We were recommended this bar by a friend and we thank her with all our hearts

  • The staff here was very amicable

  • The ambiance is very cosy and comfortable as well

  • We both really enjoyed our drinks which were very innovative and beautifully presented

  • I and a couple of my friends visited The Nightjar (Hoxton) recently and we all are in love with The Nightjar (Hoxton)

  • The beverages offered are amazing and tastes exquisite

  • The decor of The Nightjar (Hoxton) is pretty fancy and glam

  • The service is very efficient

  • We was greeted by what I have to say is the nicest front door man I have ever meet

  • Apologising for the slow entry after about 15 mins of waiting we was allowed in and followed the stairs down to a dimly lit basement abode that transports you to a jazz night in the 30s or 40s

  • The list of cocktails was both extensive and unique not only in ingredients but in amazing presentation

  • Nightjar is simply a really cool place to sit and enjoy drinks and have a catch up with your friends

  • Also everyone else there is simply there to have a good time

  • This tiny secret is hidden next door to a chicken shop

  • The live music is a great highlight the cocktails are pricy but worth it and the bar food is tasty too

  • The tables are pretty small and jammed close together

  • Book ahead for sure and ask for a table with a view of the band

  • We thought was a great deal

  • Watching the barman make the cocktails was a spectacle

  • The bar itself is immaculate having only opened recently

  • The inside is very stylish design with plenty of seating or standing space

  • The toilets were immaculately clean

  • Shoreditch is definitely my favourite night out in London

  • The drinks are fantastically presented and not because the drinks themselves are no good

  • Cosy and atmospheric whilst making sure the service is sharp and informative

  • The food they have is delicious too

  • Lovely touch with the popcorn and melon infused water they give you when you arrive

  • Just one guy with a guitar in the back)

  • We thought was a very nice gesture as we haven't even complained

  • The drinks are split by era and the staff are helpful to the extent of doing taste profiles they know their stuff and it shows

  • Jazz nights are good for when the need arises

  • Quite a bit of cocktail history research was needed to elaborate the extensive menu

  • Each drink is meticulously prepared with a creative and original presentation

  • The cocktails are extremely tasteful

  • Loved the venue but the cocktails were not quite right for me

  • You'll find a large wooden door between two nondescript cafes blink and you'll miss it if you don't look out for the small gold plaque with an etched black bird

  • Speakeasy bar adorned with trinkets and objets just dying to be investigated

  • Dimly lit nooks and crannies are great for cosying up in while the booths at the back are perfect for four and give you an ideal view of the live blues band

  • The bar itself is wooden with an impressive array of bottles behind it but it's the barmen who really bring the magic to life here

  • The cocktails are divided into five areas pre Prohibition (1880 1918)

  • I was in the market for dessert like drinks rather than my usual whisky based wonders and I wasn't disappointed as two of my choices were amongst my favourites

  • The others ordered from the fantastical menus and received teacups of booze with chocolate covered bacon

  • Martini glasses with edible seaweed

  • Chocolate spoons and ceramic jars topped with a flaming absinthe soaked sponge

  • Every single thing we ordered came out with the most impeccable presentation and differed from the one before

  • I've been light on details as Nightjar is simply magical and I urge you to join in the experience yourself

  • My favourite is still the MARTINIQUE SWIZZLE (sadly is not on the menu anymore) but definitely the best "

  • Nightjar is something I was lucky to have been to

  • Nightjar is very easy to miss as there are no loud banners and branding to guide you to this basement speakeasy style setting with soothing jazz music that allows room for conversation

  • Any drink here is bound to get you tipsy just by the way they present their drinks

  • As the menu is divided into several eras in which the drinks seemed to have originated

  • It comes in a really cool barrel shaped mug and is topped by a cake soaked in rum and melting chocolate

  • A really smooth drink showered with mint leaves on top that accompany the taste bit by bit

  • This was good too and brilliantly showcased with a chocolate spoon and berry on top

  • Voted one of the best bars in the world by Drinks International and second best bar in London just behind Artesian at The Langham Hotel

  • Nightjar is a basement bar located at trendy Shoreditch with great live jazz/ blues and all kinds of old school classic

  • Cocktails here are highly creative with beautiful garnish

  • Every drink here is like a piece of art and the cocktail's taste is as good as it looks

  • Every single thing I've ever had in Nightjar was just inexplicable

  • Make sure to make reservation way beforehand since they are normally fully booked

  • Concept of cocktails is interesting and entertaining

  • They could try being a little more generous with the food menu and portion size but no complaints on the taste

  • We missed fish on the menu but that was just bad luck

  • It was clear they were starting to close down but if they were not prepared to serve they shouldn't have let us in

  • Having won an award for 2nd best bar in the world

  • Original cocktails which are all delicious

  • Me it's one of the best bars in the world

  • Their ingredients are from around the world

  • Especially the weekends which are sold out 2 months in prior

  • The glasses were full to the brim with ice

  • I don't know the name or exactly what was in that pitcher

  • Honourable mention to the staff who are friendly almost to a fault
