Testi (Stoke Newington)

• Like the char grilled lamb sweetmeats (I'm pretty sure the restaurant's name is not meant as a reference to this)
• Chief of these is the lamb shish yogurtlu
• Charcoal grilled pieces of lamb served with yoghurt and garlic sauce
• The iskender is also great with its mixture of diced Turkish bread
• Halep sauce and adana kofte with yoghurt and melted butter
• While most of the menu is quite reasonably priced be warned that the yoghurt based dishes do cost about £
• The decor is dark and woody and as with most Turkish restaurants they have a silent but ferocious looking bloke doing the char grilling
• Went through a rough patch of being a lil bad but testi is back with a bang
• Careful not to fill yourself up on starters as the portions are very generous and the main dishes come with complementary salads
• Great atmosphere with the large open grill in the middle of the restaurant
• Favourite dish was the aubergine kebab stuffed with spicy minced meat
• When I said I was heading to Stoke Newington after work
• My only memory of it was a featureless view from the 67 bus (a staple on many Sunday afternoons during my Wood Green days)
• Testi welcomes its customers with a shop front that reminds of many other Turkish joints in London
• Suggests that sit down diners are as welcome as takeaway patrons
• Our waiter was attentive without being invasive
• Our dinner for five was a diverse feast of meat
• My personal highlight was a platter of sigara bö
• A particularly successful pairing with warm Turkish bread
• Brushed with butter and sprinkled with sesame seeds
• The chicken pieces were large and juicy
• The lamb pieces were slightly smaller and drier in comparison
• The price to portion ratio is by all means fair
• Where one of the chef's recommended dishes is a main portion of lamb testicles
• I wondered if it was all eponymous
• According to one of the servers testi means jug in Turkish and there's a classic type of kebab cooked in jugs over fire (which I didn't think was in the menu)
• We had to have hummus and it was deliciously creamy with just the right amount of texture and tang
• The kalamar was just average but the dip it came with was pretty good and I had some of it with the bread
• The classic dish of filo pastry stuffed with spinach and feta cheese
• Various salads came with our mains and were served first
• We weren't so sure what this was until we realised it was an onion salad
• There was a lot of dressing in the green salad so I was surprised to find that the leaves were still crisp and flavourful
• Despite being soaked in the vinaigrette were actually still firm and crunchy
• The lamb and chicken shish mix is a perfectly safe choice for those who want to try the best of both (shish) worlds
• I ordered lamb pirzola which is essentially grilled lamb chops
• Testi's chops were cooked just the way I liked my lamb well
• There was much to be happy about the service was pretty good
• meat is excellent and the bread that is served alongside is just
• Come with your mains are as exciting as the mains themselves
• Can be quite brisk at times but its never done with surly ness or
• These guys are running a tight ship
• It is definitely the best Turkish Restaurant in London
