Temper (City of London)

• Would have probably reacted the same way if shown a Chinese menu where every item was described generically as either a stir fry or a dim sum
• So maybe it is a good thing I am not an expert about Indian food because I found Temper to be very tasty for the most part
• The flavor palette was reminiscent of Thailand
• A tandoori yellow curry chicken was the next dish to arrive
• The table is prettily set SE Asian style with a fork and a spoon only
• Breast meat was perfect but near the bone of the thigh it was a little too pink
• There was a mild curry sauce smeared on after grilling that was slightly acidic and coconutty
• The curries come with a lot of interesting little garnishes
• These brightly flavored puffed rice street snacks dispel any preconception that Indian food is all heavy stodge
• There were two char grilled peppers of which the green was mild and the red very hot
• Some salad leaves with mint and a paratha flatbread were provided for rolling the curry in
• My companion is a real stickler about getting food piping hot and complained that all the meats arrived tepid
• Perhaps they are too focused on customers
• Atmosphere is casual but service is formal enough for new cutlery between courses
• It's like a subterranean culinary Hades (in a good way) with a fire pit in the middle of the basement with the carcasses of cooked animals waiting to be carved
• The best seller was the cheeseburger (a Big Mac it ain't) which was the least interesting dish but pleasant
• We also had the beef fat potato and the beef kebab which are highly commended
• People now happily realise that the things we thought 10 years were bad for us (meat fat) are actually quite good for us
• Temper City is a unique spin on Asian food fusion that will truly challenge your thoughts and your taste buds
• The ambience is warm and welcoming
• Prepare to raise your treble (if not your temper) as Temper (City of London) is buzzing and boisterous
• The winner here was the pakora
• You would expect to be one whole but instead it was a delicious deconstructed medley of citrus
• The kimchi lamb skewers were seductively smoky (if you&rsquo
• The curries came with an option to upgrade to a thali
• My food brain went into panic mode when I was told 'we just don't do it'
• Expect to be surprised because this is definitely not your ordinary curry house
