  • Especially considering there are very little reviews on curry houses in London

  • Reza now runs the restaurant with his brother who inherited it from their father

  • Their father was one of the first to open a curry house in London with his first restaurant

  • S still going strong in Piccadilly Circus and is now one of the oldest Indian restaurant in London

  • We started off with some poppadoms and chutneys

  • The poppadoms were probably the best I have ever had

  • The coriander chutney in particular was mouth watering and the mango chutneys tartness complimented it perfectly

  • Are marinated prawns in a saffron batter served with tamarind chutney on the side

  • The prawns themselves were very large

  • The batter was light and fluffy but little sign of saffron or any seasoning for that matter

  • Cooked to perfection with a crisp buttery skin

  • The paratha was a little thick and stodgy so steer clear

  • The staff was quite obliging the whole time I was there and they were also pretty attentive

  • The dishes as well as the drinks were reasonably priced and I would strongly recommend you all to try Star of India (South Kensington)

  • This restaurant is where close to very I used to live but I had never given it a try

  • I finally had the chance to do so last week and was very satisfied after my meal

  • The standard of the food is clearly high and it is prepared with a lot of care

  • The portions given are not very filling but that saves space to experiment with multiple dishes

  • It is definitely expensive but is completely worth it

  • The waiter was rather helpful and kind

  • Everything was mildly hot by the time it came

  • This is the one place I would recommend here if you are looking for a delicious an authentic Indian meal

  • The dishes are all hot and spicy

  • They have an extensive menu with a variety to choose from

  • Indian cuisine is not my palate of choice

  • The blend of flavors in their dishes is well brought out

  • Star of India (South Kensington) is great for an interesting variety of Indian food

  • The Lychee Kulfi was great too for dessert

  • The staff and their service is exceptional and very warm

  • To my surprise Star of India (South Kensington) is one of a kind

  • The amazing welcome that these guys will provide you is remarkable

  • The concept of changing the menu is very innovative and Star of India (South Kensington) does just that

  • The Indian food they serve is excellent and not comparable

  • The dishes are done to perfection exuding the perfect flavor one looks

  • Food is delectable with superb Indian flavors coming out from each dish

  • Their curries are all different from each other and not usual cooked in just one paste

  • The reason why i decided to check Star of India (South Kensington) out was that it was mentioned by celebrity Hugh Grant

  • The menu here was quite decent with a lot of options to choose from

  • The service staff too was pleasant and helpful with his recommendations when i had forgotten which chicken curry was Hugh's favorite

  • I would say i did not like the intriguing service charge and the fact that the rice was charged separately even though at other places they are clubbed together with the curry

  • Even when the food was pretty good

  • One would expect courteous friendly staff but that is not the case

  • The ambiance is lovely but discomforting

  • My experience was pretty average after visiting this restaurant

  • It was fully packed when I went there and would suggest you to make a reservation if you are planning to visit it some time

  • The food was expensive and the portions served were also small though the quality of food was above average

  • I had curry which was decent but didn't have a wow factor which I was looking

  • Star of India (South Kensington) is your answer to some Indian food craving

  • The staff here has been engaged with the restaurant for years

  • They serve the customers with utmost care and affection and will make sure that you have a great dining experience

  • The biryani was flavourful

  • Whatever we ordered was outstanding and did not disappoint

  • The chicken tikka masala is a must try for its wonderful flavors

  • The prices are a bit on the extreme here

  • The prices are steep and for the horrible food and service

  • Not recommended even if this is the last eatery on earth

  • The food is excellent and is cooked perfectly

  • The service is pretty efficient with the staff being quite warm and friendly

  • The ambience was fine and the place is not very expensive

  • Talk tells us this is not India and it is London &

  • Loved being seated upstairs because it was quieter and we had very attentive but not overbearing service

  • The wait staff took the time to talk with us about the dishes and had just the right level of friendliness

  • An Indian dining institution that fuses contemporary design with a classic ceiling fresco
