  • Who has worked with Jason Atherton for over 10 years

  • Well I think he might have stretched himself one too far with his latest opening Social Wine and Tapas on James Street

  • Little Social is a French bistro based in Mayfair and it&rsquo

  • Framed French posters hung on every inch of the walls and there was a tres French CD playing in the background

  • The pork belly and the mini burgers all of these are must orders

  • We all agreed that these were really great dishes

  • The tomato salad is also fantastic and well worth ordering

  • It's served ceviche style and is beautifully fresh and all round delicious

  • I thought the egg was overcooked

  • The deserts are also total showstoppers

  • The soft serve ice cream is delicious and also great fun

  • The service was generally good

  • Though quite annoyingly we were asked a few times if we were finished with dishes that we clearly weren't and Zoe struggled a little to catch someone's attention to order a glass of wine

  • Also if you're a wine lover you'll get on very well with Social Wine and Tapas (Marylebone) the selection of wines is wonderful

  • I was quick to pencil in a date for my next catch up with fellow foodie and wine aficionado

  • Where every waiter is a sommelier

  • For bar bites you can expect inventive tapas dishes borne out of the best of British produce&hellip

  • You walk into the wine shop and dining counter where the vibe is pretty cool

  • On this occasion we were led downstairs to an equally beautiful space where they have a cellar bar and more tables for larger groups

  • There's a pretty laidback feel here which was great for a mother daughter catch up and perfect for sharing

  • There's more seating downstairs but it was pretty quiet

  • We opted for a bottle of the Costiere de Nimes but if you were feeling particularly flash

  • Food kicked off with the szechuan fried chiperones tiny bites of squid in a spicy togarashi batter with squid ink aioli to dip them into

  • The small mound quickly disappeared to be replaced by a glorious heirloom tomato salad with truffled burrata

  • This was my 'died and gone to heaven' dish of the day (nothing to do with my burrata obsession

  • Course) as the sweet red and yellow fruits mixed with the tart bite of the gazpacho vinagrette and the earthy yet creamy cheese

  • The only disappointing thing was seeing a kitchen porter take several trips across the restaurant to stock up supplies and carry out rubbish

  • Let's hope that was just a one off

  • His latest London venture in the neighbourhood of Marylebone is centred around the concept of small sharing dishes with an eclectic influence

  • This new restaurant is one of the key openings of the year so I just had to visit and see what the hype was about

  • Stands out with its glossy exterior

  • The interior was just as impressive as the exterior

  • James Street is the continuation of Marylebone High Street

  • So similar in a certain way to all the other venues but this one is probably a bit more extreme

  • Wine selection is very interesting

  • Food is as always classical but with a twist and with super ingredients

  • Even though I was not particularly hungry

  • The only let down and this is no small thing is the speed of service with tapas coming out at very irregular intervals and at certain points spending close to 40mn waiting for something to eat

  • Overall not the best Social experience but will probably give it another go

  • The ham and cheese toastie was good and I prefer the seating area upstairs

  • One of these is Social Wine and Tapas

  • The restaurant is split over two levels

  • The first thing we did was dig into the extensive wine list

  • Tastes a little bit like cider and is much darker in colour and stronger in taste as the number of weeks of contact with the grape skin increases

  • The raw Orkney scallop (pictured) which I highly recommend and a dish of butternut squash with truffled burrata and grapes (pictured)

  • The vegetable dishes are really excellent

  • Salted caramel ice cream with butterscotch sauce and a hot chocolate molleux with tonka bean covered ice cream (both pictured) were a delicious end to the meal

  • Whilst Atherton is backing the venture he has stated that he will give her free rein on the restaurant&rsquo

  • Fantastic evening on Thursday night food was sublime and complemented by an extensive wine list

  • The suckling pig and the rhubarb dessert (although it was very hard to narrow it down)

  • Service was a bit on the slow side but it didn't interfere with our night too much

  • Good music and is a fabulous place to enjoy good food and drinks with friends

  • Social Wine and Tapas is yet another &lsquo

  • Of course a somewhat weighty tome that is the wine menu

  • Purviewing the pages out of curiosity I noticed that there was at least one (large) bottle in there checking in at over £

  • Could easily become a posh wine bar with some nibbles

  • Instead here is a bit about the food

  • We especially loved the scallops with wild strawberries and granita and the squid and chorizo bean casoulet

  • All the waiting staff are trained sommeliers

  • The wine matched our tastes and paired with the food very well

  • We chose our food from the a la Carte menu as there were a couple of dishes we really wanted to try

  • Ve been here on a Thursday night with a friend and we sat in the room downstairs

  • As you can see them cooking and you can speak directly with the chef for suggestions

  • We started with some padron peppers

  • Price was in line with the quality of the food we got
