Shikumen (Shepherd's Bush)

• E (although messy) were the highlight for me
• Some dishes are better than other but overall a decent meal
• It was sad when Alisan closed its doors as they produced good quality dim sum and I thought they were one of London best restaurant for xiao long bao
• S Legend last year was disappointing
• The best bit was the quality of the dimsum
• Really flavourful roast pork Cheung Fun with chunky pieces of pork and excellent quality steamed and fried pork and prawn dumplings
• Clearly all hand made in the restaurant and in our view some of the best we have sampled in the UK and we consider ourselves fans and regular lunchtime Chinatown visitors
• Unfortunately for us this restaurant is a bit out of the way but will look to come back if in the area
• Would like to try out their Roast Peking Duck with the one being carved at the neighbouring table looking succulent and yummy
• Delicious Xiao long bao (dumplings with soup inside careful not to burn your mouth)
• Normally I'd only do yum cha with a lot of people but in this case
• I'd heard great things about Shikumen so thought since we were in the neighbourhood
• It was pretty good though I must admit I was somewhat hindered by having a dining companion who doesn't like seafood
• The roast pork cheung fun was firmer than I've ever had it but really well filled
• The congee was sadly a little bland but they were generous with the century egg (yum) and pork
• Highlight for me was definitely the xiao long bao so well filled with soup
• Will definitely be coming back with a bigger crowd
• Re greeted by a huge airy space with lots of polished granite and dark wood
• I liked the intimate private spaces alongside large tables with a Lazy Susan centrepiece to encourage sharing
• Handmade dim sum and afternoon tea are popular and this year there&rsquo
• Mr and Me arrived at about twenty past six when the restaurant was relatively empty
• Braised chicken with radish and clay pot tofu with mushrooms in a black bean sauce
• We chose from the a la carte menu and began with half a Roasted Peking Duck (£
• The rest of the duck was ours to have with a choice of fried rice or noodles and it arrived with our other main courses
• The meat was delicious and came with homemade pancakes
• Our second (and probably not needed) appetiser was another restaurant speciality
• All of the fish served here is fresh and so I opt for the fried scallops with Macadamia nuts (£
• A generous portion and the scallops were beautifully fresh
• The staff here are incredibly attentive and knew the menu well
• T test their knowledge on the list but safe to say the staff speak good English and were fluent with the Chinese guests
• This is one of the best meals I&rsquo
• I have no hesitation in recommending Shikumen which is definitely a rival for many Queensway and Chinatown restaurants

• Happy to say that as a picky Chinese foodie I was overall pleasantly surprised with Shikumen
• There were some faults here and there with the cooking times but in terms of flavors they're pretty bang on with the food
• The roast duck is notable and handmade dim sum gets the approval from me
• T had a chance to go back as it is out of my way to travel

• The interiors and ambience are great as well
• I can see why it is a Michelin recommend
