Sartoria (Mayfair)

• The interior of Sartoria is elegant and sophisticated in the same way the lobby of a 5* hotel might be
• The lofty space is filled with suffused lighting
• Presumably service is normally a bit smoother
• For whatever reason (I think there was a large private dining party) that night it was patchy and slow
• My annoyance vanished as soon as I was brought a glass of excellent Fiano di Avellino and our starters
• We then had ravioli with nduja and an interesting version (apparently Sicilian) of lasagna (pictured)
• We opted for a very delicate dessert of rhubarb and lemon meringue (pictured) which was also lovely
• I would recommend Sartoria for a nice Italian meal in London with the caveat that I've given them the benefit of the doubt on service
• The refurbishment carried out is nice and it was not overly busy so i expected much better service
• Service was slow and staff not attentive i am afraid with little or no eye contact
• I ordered an orange juice which came in one of the smallest glasses i have seen and yes it was fresh but all pulp so you cannot drink it
• I finally after trying to get staffs attention was able to complain and ask for a coke a cola which no one can mess up and rather than be sorry i was told this is how fresh orange juice is served
• When staff try to justify something that is wrong without even trying it i dont really feel comfortable about spending money or brining my friends or business contacts along
• At 5pm with only a few tables occupied i am afraid the service and attitude was not up to par
