OXO Tower Restaurant (South Bank)

• When booking my son asked for a river view table because it was my 70th birthday
• Imagine my delight at being given a corner table with a panoramic view of the London skyline
• Then when dessert arrived they had inscribed the plate with Happy 70th Birthday Mum without being asked
• The service was first rate and the food excellent definitely a place to have a special celebration or to impress a loved one
• It was very quiet at lunchtime on Wednesday but food was very classy I had mackerel to start then lamb (bit fatty) and sorbets to finish
• Bill for 4 was nearly 400 but did include 2 bottles of wine
• Atmosphere was very relaxed
• Even if that 'something special' was just the fact it was the weekend
• Useful when your dinner date is boring you
• I came here for the first time with my girlfriend a year ago
• At the time we were both somewhat self righteously practising vegan diets
• I have returned subsequently (practising a more traditional diet) and was not surprised to find that the rest of their food was equally delicious
• The Oxo Tower Restaurant is what it is
• I am pleased to say that there is not much pretence about the place the staff are friendly and polite
• The restaurant is well worth a try
• The weather was warm and I thoroughly enjoyed the views from our table on the terrace
• Unfortunately I was very disappointed by the food
• The portions are very small and expensive
• The service from start to finish was excellent and food was perfect
• 250 for 4 and although a bit pricey it was worth the experience
• Given we were asked to leave the table it was definitely well overpriced

• The restaurant was clean and contemporary but still gave you a warm cosy feeling
• Service all in all was very good (apart from being left out of the blanket club)
• I felt as if maybe the menu was trying too hard
• Crisp vegetables without the wasabi as I am a wuss with spicy hot food
• Crunchy on the outside and so full of flavour on the inside they were by far the star on that plate
• As we were on the terrace there was no space so they waiter brought it to out to meet us then took it back into the restaurant to carve
• The waiter was only too happy to accommodate us and took it back to the kitchen to get it to the medium as requested
• What I haven't mentioned is the complimentary bread we couldn't get enough of
• Pick very very carefully a starter and take in the experience because it's a feeling you get when you are there that you will only get there
• The restaurant is quite convenient to travel to since its central
• I was surprised to this treat for my birthday and it was honestly the most perfect evening
• From the moment you walk in you are greeted with warm welcomes and assisted to your table
• We were lucky to have a window table reserved for us with an incredible view of the city along the river
• The waiters did a great job at ensuring everything was perfect the whole evening
• The mocktails were also one of the best I've tried
• Towards the end of the night I was presented with a special desserts plate with a personal birthday message how perfect
• Including drinks it is worth every penny
• Their beef main is one of the best meat that I've ever had
• They also give you little chocolaty things with your coffee
• The ambiance is perfectly fine
• Even if you are far from the window
• We also ordered some desserts and they were all good especially the tropical rum baba
• The atmosphere inside is something that makes OXO Tower Restaurant (South Bank) unique
• Very expensive restaurant which isn't a problem if I felt the food was worth the value
• I am definitely not saying the food was not satisfactory
• I have the beef tenderloin and it was quite tough and flavours weren't amazing
• I would not be as harsh if the food was worth the value but it definitely wasn't
• The highlight of the Oxo Tower restaurant is always going to be the view
• Just that the view is that spectacular
• The food is very nice definitely on the stylish side (starters included Devon crab with sweetcorn sorbet
• In that we were left looking at the petit fours and wondering if we could manage just one

• The sauces and garnishes were far from impressive

• I have heard that downstairs they have a bar that is far less expensive
• OXO Tower Restaurant (South Bank) is all things good expect for the fact that considering it is one of the more expensive joints in the neighbourhood
• There were spiders alongside the edge of the window and the manager was looking shoddy

• Knowledge of wine is only a tad less nauseating than the actual food itself
• I'm usually quite forgiving of ambience if the food makes up for it but this was just one downward spiral from the greeting down to the food

• We visited on bonfire night and were seated relatively centrally in the restaurant
• When my husband asked to talk to the waiter away from our table he was surprised that nobody has presented the cake to us first in whole (it was supposedly had a message written with choc for me)
• Cheesecake and Caramel pastry were refreshingly scrumptious
• Wonderful place for those who would love to spend some time with few drinks with friends and family
• Placed in a very nice place with a great view of the Thames
• Beef chateaubriand was cooked to perfection
