Meson Don Felipe (Waterloo)

• T remember much as it was a kind of dinner meeting to discuss our landlord
• (as we will refer to it now) is the self styled &lsquo
• You certainly get the feeling that it is knocking on a bit
• Punctuated only with Spanish fashion prints and clunky Mitsubishi air con units that look like they&rsquo
• The tables and chairs are off the peg
• First served are queuing in the doorway and spilling around tables in the dining room
• You can also order plonk by the carafe which makes you feel sensible (the beer list is of a decent size too
• So once that was all negotiated
• Ordering three dishes per person is more than enough for a good meal
• Re gonna luck out with most of the spread
• So how bad could it be (it was amazing) but a plate of chorizo and potato cooked in a spicy tomato sauce probably required a little more thought than carving and slicing
• The mixed paella (with fish and chicken) was as good as the one I had in Andalusia and M
• A place of courgette stuffed with cheese and mushroom was (literally) sloppily brought together and was akin to something I would have made myself after a night on Snakebite at Surrey University
• A salad of artichoke hearts was nothing more than a heap of mixed leaves with the eponymous ingredient scattered around the outside
• Vegetables are good for you (as Maria reminded me throughout the meal) and the whole spread was brilliantly done

• Though an apple tart was as flat as a pancake and described by the ever hard to please Maria as an &ldquo
• Well soon the guitar player arrived and we were expecting singing
• We were left with just the Octobery sounds of the Med
• Made with brandy and anise was probably the scariest moment of the evening
• Still as it was cold outside and people were dressed up in alarming costumes (I met someone on the Tube dressed as Rebekah Brooks)
• The meson don Felipe bar is the first Tapas Bar in London
• This Spanish bar has established itself as one of the best Tapas Bars in town
• I was at first overwhelmed with the interior the bar had
• The walls all painted in red colours were all covered with different Spanish posters and paintings
• I remember I ordered an aubergine stuffed with mince beef and mushrooms an amazing dish for all meat lovers
• We also had a few jars of coctails and I must confess that Meson Don Felipe is good in both food and coctail making
• I would definitely go back there as it is a place worth trying
• I went to Meson Don Felipe about 5 years ago and was blown away by the tasty tapas dishes and splendid sangria
• With joint effort we decided to share a cheesecake with wild blackberries
• As much as it was a struggle to indulge
• The dessert was a beautiful end to a wonderful meal
• The only negative is that I would prefer my cheesecake biscuit base to be more crunchy
• This cheesecake was fairly soft and took away the texture I usually love in a cheesecake
• The ambience made you feel like you were in Barcelona or in a neighbourhood restaurant in Valencia
• Waitresses all speaking in Spanish and the lovely gentleman playing the Spanish guitar and mingling with the guests
• Everything was also very overcooked
• Leaving the lamb so dry it was hard to even swallow it
• The only saving graces were the Jamon y queso
• The speed from entering to leaving was less than 30 minutes
• We've managed to get a space at the bar and it was the last ones available
• Lamb and the cod fish with a glass of wine
• Food wise it's really nice and tasty and the portions are the perfect size for tapas
• Maybe because it was quite crowded
• So come early as Waterloo area is always packed
• Tapas is not something that is cheap outside Iberian Peninsula
• When catching up with a friend and contemplating whether or not to duck into Byron for an always excellent burger
• Coming from a culture of earing dim sum whilst growing up is a similar principle
• S now bustling with bars and restaurants and is a lively place to head to whether you&rsquo
• Always crowded and often with a queue to get in
• Just one or two tapas with a drink or the nicest thing is to share a few tapas with a friend or two and make more of a meal of the experience
• The tables are laid out around the bar
• Service is average but the Tapas were mind blowing
