Maotai Kitchen (Chinatown)

• Spicy is the name of the game here with the occasional pickled vegetable providing a bit of a twist for the tastebuds
• I love it and it makes for an exciting change for the palette with bold and intense flavours
• What I really come to Mao Tai Kitchen for is their delightful selection of traditional hotpots and hand pulled noodles
• Tonight was no different as we started with the braised tofu hotpot and their signature Giuzhou noodles which are both formidable dishes I would not hesitate to recommend
• Rounding out the meal were orders of the vegetable dumplings
• Pepper and the braised spicy chicken which were all delicious even whilst playing a supporting role
• That would be a loss because the food is genuine and quite the experience
• Was seated in a tiny room with about 4 tables altogether maximum
• I got a soft she'll crab with garlic flakes thinking it would be light
• It came looking like a pile of fried crumbs with tiny crabs hidden under the crumbs
• My initial interest was spurned by an article by Fuchsia Dunlop about regional Chinese restaurants in London
