Machaan (Chiswick)

• Has a rather earthy ambience with dim lighting
• Reflecting brownish ish green walls and has beige furniture lit up with tiny scented candles
• The restaurant was pretty empty when I entered

• So I started off with a Chicken Tikka Shashlik and Methi Machchi Tikka starters with a Masala Papad (Spicy Poppadom) to munch on till the food arrived
• As the wait was killing my appetite
• I politely asked the waitress to suggest a dish that wouldn't take too long to make and she suggested I go with a platter (for a Main Course
• I went with a Naan (bread) with Chicken Jhalfrezi
• The Chicken Shashlik was quite tasty
• The Pilau Rice was plain (as opposed to the Pilau Rice in India which is full of vegetables)
• I was told that this is how Pilau Rice was served here (which I realized was true
• The rice did taste really good and it was even better with the chicken gravy
• Leaves you with a bitter aftertaste if you bite it
• If you are going here with friends or family
• It is on the site of what was the short lived Indian restaurant Korma
• Murgh malai tikka was marinated and the cooked in a tandoor
• Whose vegetable pattie had a hard texture that was not sufficiently well disguised by slathering nondescript green sauce over it (10/20)
• With what there was being overcooked
• The best dish was dhal makhani
• Sadly this was not the case with spicy potatoes
• Where the vegetables were mushy and the sauce bland (9/20)
• Naan bread was on the crispy side instead of supple
• Though there were inordinate delays in the dishes arriving given that only two other tables were occupied when we were eating
• Where the food is vastly better and the prices lower
• Completely agree with the 'experts' view that Indian restaurants in Chiswick and surrounding areas are garbage
• Atmosphere and general ambience is none existent
• The chicken is sweet (coconut milk) so not my taste
• Aloo gobi just as good and naans are moist and full of flavour
