Hunan (Belgravia)

• No menu (though they do check if you are a vegetarian
• They usually start with a pork wanton soup
• His father is the head chef
• The hype built around this restaurant is extremely undeserving for the experience it provides
• Very ordinary with a narrow rectangular layout
• The air circulation was non existent which made it very warm even on a very pleasant evening during the course of our dinner
• Except for 1 dish every other dish brought to our table was either below average or bad
• The fried beans was the only dish that was average
• Hunan (Belgravia) is full of surprises
• Course after course is brought out for you to try
• Having lived in China for a number of years it was great to find some truly authentic food
• When I booked I was quite sceptical given that I'm a fussy eater and like to know exactly what I'm going to eat
• The chef even came out to check if everything was okay and replaced two dishes that I didn't really enjoy
• It only scores 4 instead of 5 becuase the price is punchy and has been slowly go up and is consequently gradually pricing me out

• When I first went there I said medium and for my taste it was still to spicy
• Is supposed to be spicy but it was really good
• The wine list is quite long and my Riesling from Germany was a perfect match with the food

• I still say that the food is worth the money
• We went knowing next to nothing other than there was a no menu policy and the cookbook is a good read
• Being sat next to the window at lunch was lovely as even on an overcast day it was plenty bright
• The only thing I'd say that is really worth taking into consideration here is that even if you tell the staff what foods you don't like/can't eat it won't necessarily mean that you'll like the food
• A couple of dishes weren't as popular with the people I was with
• The removal of choice leaves you with this odd sense of anticipation for the next dish that'll be brought out
• The table next to us were still getting dishes
• Still really damped our experience especially when the food was actually very tasty and authentic
• Our interaction with the chef soured our mood here and if based on just service alone I would give a rating of 1
