The main USP of this restaurant is the fact that it serves pure vegetarian food
-
It is predominantly a chain restaurant that is present at each ISKON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temple round the world
-
When you enter the restaurant you are greeted by an oasis of tranquillity
-
All the food is cooked without onions
-
Most of the employees are Indian and even the service is pretty quick with my food taking only 10 minutes to arrive
-
As one of the best value places to eat in the West End
-
Meals are offered up to Lord Krishna before being dished out and the portions are meant to sustain you rather than indulge (although there is an option for a larger serving)
-
The restaurant has been a key part of life in Soho for goodness knows how many years (at least back to the 1980s) and staff and followers from the temple are a common sight in the streets of the area
-
The Indian meals there is rice and curry or dahl for a fiver
-
Govinda's (Soho) is actually the next step of being vegan
-
Do I think I like bland (or maybe pure is the polite way to say this) food
-
Only if there is some sort of religious compulsion
-
This is a restaurant attached to the Radhe Krishna temple next doors and is serving very simple (and might I add mostly tasteless) vegetarian food
-
Many of the best restaurants I have been to fall precisely into this category but unfortunately I found this one to be more of a disappointment than anything
-
So I would say this one is best avoided
-
The food at Govinda's is nowhere close
-
My unlimited thali was discarded even before the first helping was done with
-
Excellent place and a heaven for people who are looking for 100% vegetarian food without onion
-
The food tastes alright and is not bad if not exceptionally good
-
We ate there quite a few times and my personal recommendation is their vegetable rice with chilly paneer
-
Gavindas serves really good vegetarian but there is very limited options
-
The food however is really fresh and so I would recommend a visit
-
The location is also not bad either and there is a lovely atmosphere
-
It feels a little as if you are going through a cleanse
-
I went to Govinda's (Soho) as it is also there in Mumbai and i love the food there
-
I chose the unlimited thali which is available at a very reasonable price and also offers student discounts
-
It is purely vegetarian there with no onions and garlic but the thali is still delicious
-
This is one restaurant directed at those who are purely vegetarians
-
This is one of the best places in London to have an inexpensive and delicious vegetarian meal
-
The ingredients are all very fresh and flavourful
-
I can definitely say that Govinda's (Soho) was enjoyable in every aspect
-
The samosa was delectable
-
A comfortable and inviting place with no pretentious decor but rather informal setting
-
Was good portion and for the price it came for was totally worth it
-
Pastas there is everything for everyone on the menu
-
An extensive selection of salads are there to chose for a healthier meal
-
I summed up my meal with a mango cheesecake which was delectable
-
Comes at only 8 pounds and is very filling
-
Chutneys etc are all delicious
-
The dishes are very tasty and the portions are also very big and filling
-
The price for the food was totally reasonable and the items tasted pretty delicious
-
Govinda's (Soho) is a must try
-
This restaurant serves some really good vegetarian food and I must say that it was reasonably priced when the last time I went there
-
I visited Govinda's (Soho) on a weekday and there was a steady stream of people flowing in and out of the restaurant though I was able to find my table with ease
-
All the dishes were quite nice and overall
-
Very impressed with the food here
-
Govinda's (Soho) is vegetarian with a limited menu but everything is as delicious as it gets
-
The only option available is the large thali and the size of the portions in my opinion was substantial
-
The spiciness could be increased but the flavors in a wide variety of curries is consistently good
-
This is not your healthiest option but great if you are really hungry
-
I went here with my friends and ordered small thali which was so delicious and the portions were pretty much filling too
-
The food was full of flavors and according to an Indian friend it was authentic too
-
The food here was slightly bland
-
There are some ingredients which are not allowed in the food like mushrooms
-
Most of the dishes are made with clarified butter and thus not suitable for vegans
-
According to me it was a small bowl of lentil soup served to me
-
Other restaurants definitely serve better food with greater value for money
-
I had huge expectations because of the reviews that Govinda's (Soho) generally receives but soon realised that it was a bad choice
-
The food was pretty average though the portions served were quite generous
-
The service though was spot on and the ambience was also quite good
-
The vegetarian food was nothing unique or exciting and was rather drab
-
What gave a dash on my emotions was to see the 'thali' looked like any other Indian preconception
-
Done up in orange with mirrors all around
-
The ambiance is very pleasant
-
Burger and small salad which were priced just perfectly
-
There was Lassi which was awesome as well
-
The ambience and surrounding is pretty decent as well
-
It is situated in Soho and is on a walkable distance if you are on Oxford circus
-
Kachori was the best among all of them
-
In main course we went for ala carte as we were two people
-
Everything was good except the chapati became a lil hard as it was microwaved
-
The best part was the dessert
-
They have lot of options but we chose to go with kheer and gulab jamun
-
We took buttermilk which is a must have in drinks
-
Great food BUT when pizza or lasagna is heated it is still cold and losing that extra crunch to the bite PLEASE SERVE YOUR FOOD HOT
-
Tasteless didn't even make me feel I was eating indian food
-
An ok Indian restaurant with mediocre food
-
The service was not friendly
-
The all you can eat is truly a challenge of whether you could finish a plate full of bland food
-
Govinda's (Soho) is like a heaven to you
-
So far the best paneer I had in London
-
I went there with my family and we love Indian food
-
I can say that it is a pure Indian cuisine
-
The ingredients are so real and tasty making the food delicious for us
-
The restaurant was lovely and stylish
-
The starters were very good and arrived very quickly
-
All main courses and starters were interestingly and delicately spiced
-
The service was very attentive and all the little extras ice cream coffee and sweeties gave a nice touch
-
Has panner and Rice with gulab jamun
-
Also if you are interested in worshipping there is temple right near to the restaurant
-
The food quality is good n tasty too
-
The gulabjamun is just awsome
-
Food 4/5 Govinda's food is quite good and tasty
-
Including differently flavoured lassis are recommended strongly
-
Went there to Govindas couple of times in 2011 and on each occasion the food was just perfect sattvic and delicious
-
Will recommend it to any person who is visiting London as one of the highlights from Indian cuisine wise
-
Is close to the temple they are really friendly and in peace
-
What I liked is that there is not waist of food in the portion
-
The only thing if of what a really been happy was the food like rice served in the metal trail but I suppose I typical manner
-
Visited Govinda's (Soho) with my uncle who is an ISKCON member
-
Everything is pure and well cooked
-
The reason to go here is not for the decor
-
Food tasted fresh and service was a little confusing but good
-
Food is fresh and tasty there is no spice so it can be a little bland and not truly authentic as its too mild
-
The deserts and drinks are all made onsite and impress
-
The options are quite plenty
-
The restaurant is unmissable being next to the Radha Krishna temple run by ISKCON
-
Please don't expect to be served as you would in a normal restaurant and let the spirituality associated with a temple visit linger till you eat lunch
-
Butter milk is especially good
-
Great place to have Indian lunch if you are around soho
-
The paneer was super hard
-
The Veg cutlets were the only saviour
-
A bit overly priced but none to blame as the location is central London
-
It has clean Indian vegetarian and vegan food available witch is more on the satvik style
-
Adjacent to Isckon temple Govinda's (Soho) serves one of the best vegetarian food
-
Also worthwhile during a visit is a short trip to the first floor
-
Buttermilk was the best thing from whatever we ordered
-
The portion for large is easily a small portion
-
This restaurant is very close to my work place
-
The food was very tasty and the surroundings are very clean
-
If somebody is craving for a simple vegetarian Indian meal at central London
