Fold (Brick Lane)

• The menu reads well so we were really quite excited
• Our shared main of the carpaccio fold arrived first along with the aubergine caviar starter and we were suddenly disappointed
• 14.50 at full price) was meant to be cooked in a pot of hot broth
• The four little rice pancakes the dish came with were folded and really difficult to unfold without tearing
• The way they serve this kind of dish on Kingsland Road (individual pancakes laid out flat between flexible mesh discs) is far superior
• Besides the nice condiment bottles on the table there was really very little flavor
• Their char grilled goat rice paper dish is much larger and tastier at £
• We were also disappointed by the aubergine caviar which was pretty devoid of flavor
• Last to arrive was our starter of the panko sharing platter
• Maybe the food is intended to be flavored primarily by the bottled sauces
• The FOLD ing sets were not only nostalgic
• There's definitely much more room for improvement and the prices for the sets need some re consideration as well (as the fillings except for the meats are quite inexpensive)
• To me it almost feel like it is already setting itself ready to become a chain operation for the future
