The name of this newish Blackheath restaurant is by no means cryptic
-
Blackheath seems to have a rapid turnover of restaurants and mastering the secret to staying grounded in this environment is definitely the Da Vinci Code of the village
-
The first item that screams out to me is the pork belly tempura &ndash
-
The chicken skewers were nice enough but it is definitely the guacamole it comes with that stole the show here
-
Dulche de leche and topped with cornflakes &ndash
-
It was delicious with the warm sweetness of the dulche de leche contrasting beautifully with the earthy chocolate brownie
-
A Sunday roast is best eaten either at someone else&rsquo
-
S far too much faff with too little reward when I cook one
-
On the site of our local CAU in Blackheath once lived a no frills Mexican restaurant that are hard to find in London (unless you go to Greenwich where there seems to be loads)
-
The Cactus Pit was where we&rsquo
-
D stuff our faces with sizzling mediocre fajitas for next to no money
-
It was always quiet with a dark and dingy downstairs area so it was only a matter of time before it went
-
Re glad it was CAU who took the space
-
10.50 for a small jug is made with Torronté
-
S white wine mixed with red and white grapes
-
This refreshing fruity drink was a proper holiday beverage
-
Our food arrived on a wooden board with a red moat of blood around the edges &ndash
-
The roasted carrots got the thumbs up from Ade which is not like him at all (he is NOT a fan of carrots)
-
5.25 grilled pineapple with rum caramel
-
7 for spicy baked eggs baked with tomato and jalapeñ
-
CAU presents a picky brunch crowd a range of traditional Argentinian dishes with a distinctly English twist
-
CAU Blackheath is a relaxing option for South London dining
-
As South American's are known for their love of meat at CAU does not disappoint on this
-
The interior is in a cool monochrome pallet and seemingly a total shrine to the cow that inspires the restaurant
-
Our waiter was very friendly and chatty with local area knowledge and a strong understanding of the menu
-
The pancakes and CAU Brunch are the best"
-
We actually completely ignored those suggestions and went with Latin Eggs
-
Firstly I've been battling with a weird stomach bug for the last few days and felt the vitamin C concoction of orange juice
-
Secondly it is always interesting to see if a restaurant blends their drinks on site or uses bottled
-
The tropical smoothie is blended with ice on site and is very fresh
-
The orange is a little overpowering and masks the other flavours
-
Piping hot and with an inviting aroma
-
The Latin Eggs is a South American take on Eggs Royal
-
The avocado is grilled and served with poached eggs and hollandaise
-
I do find this is also the case with the British version
-
My avocado was a little brown for my liking (and not from the grill)
-
Tasty enough with a rich edge
-
One of my eggs was sadly broken in transit but perfectly cooked
-
The hollandaise sauce was very rich (good or bad thing depending on your point of view)
-
I felt it clashed really weirdly with the chimichurri
-
I am unsure what its purpose was on this dish
-
Lex's steak and eggs was a simple enough dish
-
The steak was juicy and flavoursome with a taste of the char grill
-
The meat had clearly been well rested and taken care of as the meat was just delicious
-
The fried eggs were well cooked with a good sprinkle of pepper on the top which was a nice touch
-
We felt the dish was a little one dimensional and could have done with a little something else to mix things up
-
The menu is extensive but dining with a few Cau veterans made the choosing process a lot easier and we narrowed our choices down quite easily
-
A large number of us opted for the Choripan sandwich which was well cooked
-
Could have done with a more sensible bread to chorizo ratio
-
D forgotten to season it with anything and so we ended up salting it ourselves so as to avoid eating what was essentially warm tasteless truffle mush
-
I find it find hard to resist a hands on master class invite and it is the promise of making empanada&rsquo
-
A Buenos Aires inspired restaurant group CAU is located a short walking from the overground station facing the beautiful All Saints Church
-
A celebration of friendship this festival is celebrated in many South American countries
-
Good location but very disappointed with food and service even whole restaurant was empty
