Browns (Canary Wharf)

• Went to Browns last week and was blown away by the staff and their excellent service
• I rang ahead to make sure it was OK to bring in a cake and whether we had to book a restaurant table
• The guy who answered the phone was very cool about it and said we could just have it in the bar area
• Expertly handwritten 'Happy Birthday' in chocolate next to it and decorated the whole thing with raspberries and candles
• All brought out with some ceremony
• Nothing extra was asked of us it was done purely from the staff's own sense of professionalism and attention to making sure we enjoyed ourselves
• Probably ambiance and the buzz is what you really go to these places
• Browns (Canary Wharf) is crowded by bankers on most evenings
• The bar is downstairs in the basement which is a welcome departure from the general theme for pubs across Canary
• Most pubs around Canary Wharf tend to be overcrowded and really noisy so it is impossible to talk to anyone
• The ground floor houses the restaurant while the pub is downstairs
• I've never stepped into the restaurant and have stuck to the pub grub downstairs which is not too bad here
• I happened to go to Browns last month with some colleagues after work
• It is a nice cozy place with sophisticated ambiance

• The seating outside is just excellent both on the ground and in the basement
• A good spot for brunch when the sun is shining over London
• Steams of water and busy hurried people is nice when you're lingering over breakfast
• The service can be slow but the food is usually consistent with other Browns and on this occasion the Eggs Benedict were perfectly adequate if not terribly inspiring
• The chairs are classic brown with dull and sober lighting mostly giving a touch of shiny gold theme
