  • The Mussel Inn is a mid sized and from the outside a somewhat unassuming restaurant tucked away on Rose Street

  • Since my mind was set on starting my meal with a half dozen oysters

  • Service is snappy so there was not long between order and starter

  • The lemon wipe at the end of the meal is very welcome

  • Mussel Inn gets busy on a Friday and is quite buzzy too

  • Tables at The Mussel Inn are close together so you can listen in to your neighbour&rsquo

  • They took our reservation promptly and all was ready when we got there

  • I ordered the crab pasta and because there was so much chilli I couldn't taste much else and it was so hot

  • I then ordered the shellfish pasta and it was absolutely delicious

  • He found that the fish was a bit bland

  • I was a tad disappointed when I was told I couldn't bring my food home

  • All I can think about is that it's probably all going in the bin

  • The place very near with Primark my fav place to shop

  • The salmon was so tasty and love the ambience

  • Lots of wine what a great evening with people who enjoyed sampling each others food

  • Pretty obvious from the name that there is an abundance of mussels on the menu

  • So I started with fresh oysters and had the pan fried scallops as my main

  • The oysters was quite disappointing actually

  • The pan fried scallops was quite good actually

  • The best part was dipping the bread in the pesto sauce

  • Our waters are home to such wonderful produce

  • So I dearly hoped The Mussel Inn would provide suitable evidence to suggest visitors would leave with a positive impression of our fishy treats

  • My friend and I were visiting Edinburgh and it was our first night here when we decided to try Mussel Inn upon the recommendation of our host

  • It only took about 10 minutes when we were called in for indoor seating

  • We didn't mind as it was a bit chilly outside

  • The place is casual with lively ambience and light hues interior

  • We started with haggis bonbon which one friend thought I wouldn't like

  • Inside the restaurant you are always given a warm greeting upon approaching the bar

  • The mussels are always well prepared and come in a variety of sauces

  • Why go to the Mussel Inn if you are not going to eat mussels

  • Not to be missed if you are in Edinburgh and enjoy your seafood

  • I love seafood and Mussel Inn delivers with some quality seafood dishes the pots of mussels with the 5 different sauces are delicious

  • I normally get the seafood pasta as a main and there is a good variety of shellfish on offer

  • If you are with others and more than two people order the shellfish pasta one plate may get more shellfish than the other

  • We were sat down with menus in what felt like seconds

  • The chowder was plain knockout
