The Witchery & The Secret Garden (Old Town)

• We won't ever set foot in here unless there was no way around it eg
• When arrived at the restaurant and we were wearing hen party sashes and tiaras
• Sat down at the table and we were given a waitress called Britney
• The setting was indeed lovely and grand but just slightly too dark
• We literally had to use our phones to see what was served to us
• It tries too hard and the portions are very very small
• Very nice as a one off restaurant to visit for the experience but ultimately I wouldn't go back as the menu is quite limited and the food very expensive but not overly memorable
• The food and service was quit spot on
• A very intriguing restaurant with lots of history of Edinburgh
• A fine dining restaurant that is in the city of Edinburgh
• The two course menu was quite pleasant
• All the diners here were tourists (including us)
• Everything is beautifully presented
• The rabbit saddle starter was very subtle
• The venison entree was elegant and understated not flashy
• I don't know why these 2 places are listed together
• The Witchery is more dark and sexy
• The Secret Garden is great for a fancy lunch when the sun is out
• The Witchery is great when wanting to create a more intimate atmosphere
• You feel like your are in a different century
• It was extra special with the Xmas decorations
• The lamb Wellington is one of the best dish that I have ever had in my whole life
• Great memories will always be associated with The Witchery & The Secret Garden (Old Town) as my other half and I got engaged there
• The ambience is perfect for an evening of romance and the food is just perfect
• The starters were a smash hit
• What really hit the spot for me though was a rhubarb and white chocolate trifle
• Set lower into the building which apparently is the prettier setting
• Mains I had the venison which was perfection and hubby enjoyed the best 30 day aged ribeye steak which he said was the best he had ever tasted and he eats a lot of steak
• In comparison with other find end eateries around the world absolutely
• We made a reservation and when we reached there we were told with attitude that we do not
• We did show we contacted the restaurant we were treated with lack of interest for sitting us and identifying who was the staff that did not actually made the booking
• We ended up going to another restaurant with excellent food and great staff attitude
• The garden restaurant is a gem of a place and should not be missed
• The room itself is gorgeous and the atmosphere subdued but electric
