Loudons Cafe & Bakery (Fountainbridge)

• I have quickly found no one is less than pleased to be invited to Loudons
• The menu isn't extensive but I have it on good authority that the cakes are better than up to scratch
• The numerous teas and coffees I had there over the course of three separate visits were great (the green tea in particular
• Modern spot with an open airy feel to it and lots of social capital on display
• The fact that there are electric points for charging the laptop
• The array of assorted places to sit is appealing and the soups are fabulous
• Always a good place when out on the bike but also when occasion requires a car there is often parking close by
• Not too keen on other people's noisy children but there is usually enough room in here to avoid and there is outdoor seating in the summer
• The carrot cake was fairly decent and coffee was nice enough
• I only ever really drop by here for a takeaway coffee as I always thought it was some of the best in Edinburgh
• Biscuity lattes (a lot of other places are popping up though and are probably equal to or better than Loudon's)
• It's a little pricey and I agree with EdinBlogger that service can be a bit lacking (slow) but it's a lovely
• Light and spacious place to while away some time with a book or your laptop
• I've been watching Loudons with interest since they opened but as I no longer spend much time in that part of town I've only recently managed a couple of visits and was rather impressed
• ALL of the quiches are gluten free
• I'm often on the hunt for a flat white that has enough kick to make my eyes pop and Loudons is right on the mark
• The flat white is small (as it should be)
• Other big plus points are that the interior is rather funky
• Today even though it was snowing a lot I really felt like going somewhere for breakfast
• I found Loudons and I have been here before when I had my meeting with the lovely Andrea from Zomato
• I was beyond glad that the bus stop was literally outside Loudons
• They also have WiFi( with the worlds easiest password) so you can use a laptop to study or even just chill
• I ordered coconut and banana pancakes with a bottle of water
• Overall though a fab place with funky tables
• Tweedy broth jacketed moustache types mingle with slick office workers from somewhere nearby
• You can sit and watch the hoards clamor to place their order in the sandwich bar up the street which is always heaving with office types
• First time I went to Loudon's I had their vegan pancakes (I am not vegan but I felt like having pancakes and this was their only option)
• Lots of other great dishes (brunch is fabulous here) and a funky interior
• Staff is lovely and it seems to be a popular place for parents with babies to hang out
• I have been back for brunch again and this time I had their awesome Eggs Benedict with Scottish Smoked Salmon
• The breakfast options were really good
• Clearly cooked to order and the ingredients were of high quality
• My favourite part was the vast selection of home baked cakes and sweet treats
• The Tea was nice as was the coffee but it wasn't outstanding
• They are full of light and even when the day is grey they somehow make you feel that the sun is shining

• The yogurt dip was just a little bit more watery expected but otherwise a standout dish
• The raspberry smoothie was very raspberry ish just as it should be
• I have to admit I do miss the cake table that was the first thing to greet you as arrived
• There are plenty of gluten free options and there are also scones and cookies
• My fellow diner heads back to work and I sit and catch up over coffee with another friend
• Regular Bread Workshops are held at Loudons
• I love how big it is because the big windows allow enough light to enter the cafe which provides a brilliant space for working or just for reading a book
• I'm never afraid that I'll have nowhere to sit because there is always enough tables
• Service friendly and their eggs benny are one of the best ones in Edinburgh
• If you like buzzing atmosphere this is definitely a place to go
• The cafe does a good GF breakfast and serves its own bread which you can buy to take away it has a lovely crumbly scone like texture and is worth trying
• The pastry is good too and the gluten free quiche is terrific
• Their ethically sourced coffee is lovely and the water is available FOC to help yourself
• They serve an all day brunch (9am to 3pm) at weekends includes eggs Benedict with smoked salmon which is awesome
• Warm spiced quinoa with dried fruit
• Specials such as blueberry pancakes with fruit salad
• Then Loudons is the place to be
• I was extremely impressed with the gluten free options (gluten free chocolate cake
• ) For someone who is always seeking healthy options
• Their latte macchiatos were a lovely sweet coffee after a long day at uni
• They have a great selection of gluten free options which was great for my friend
• Their cakes were tasty and moist I had the carrot cake
• Whether it's with a friend or with my laptop on my own

• A hot chocolate is exactly what I needed after being caught in the rain
• Re walking into the cafe you are welcomed by a wide selection of freshly baked goods
• I had only ever tried polenta as a savory dish so I was curious to see how it tasted as a cake
• The polenta sponge was so light and moist that it just melted in your mouth and the raspberry filling was fluffy and not too sweet which suited me fine
• S pear and chocolate frangipane tart was really yummy
• The pastry was thin and cooked to perfection
• That I think I got myself involved in a hollaindoff with their chef Timo (how cool is his name which means Thyme in Italian
• The eggs benedict is a great winner and the cakes are lovely
• It's a lovely atmosphere for a catch up with my friends we were there for 2 hours
• Some of the staff were not that friendly but all in all a great experience and would definitely go back and recommend to friends

• I am a big fan of eggs benedict and I've somehow found myself on my own personal mission to find the best ones in Edinburgh
• The Roseleaf have one of the best around but Loudons might be stealing that crown

• Lemon and lime drizzle cake was a little too sweet for my liking but that's just my preference

• The waitresses are very friendly
• The coconut banana and caramel French toast is absolutely divine
• Something sweet or toasted bread and a latte and it was really difficult to find something on the menu
• All the cakes look a little bit to heavy for a breakfast (cakes were the only choice) and the latte was around average
• The price is quite high comparing with other cafes in the zone
• I'm starting to explore this side of Edinburgh and have heard that Loudons was a super wee spot for lunch
• The cafe is large and open inside with table service
• As you enter there are numerous high chairs and tables and then the main body of the cafe has a mix of wooden tables and chairs and large comfy sofas
• As I wasn't up for a large lunch I opted for the soup with crusty bread
• I was impressed that they were happy to sit a solo diner during a busy lunch hour
• Needless to say one of the best eggs benedict i ever had
• Eggs benedict with mozzarella
• I ask the ramen burger with a veggie twist which was not in the menu
• They made fresh vanilla cheese cake which was worth a try
• I would say this is an ideal breakfast place
