Zeytoon (Cricklewood)

• I heard of Zeytoon through a friend who is very picky with his food so I had to try it
• The attention to detail is quite exceptional
• Just the right amount of sweetness and the consistency of the stew was just right
• This is a good Persian restaurant with a great Persian atmosphere
• It came with a small plate of sweets that we didn't order so we automatically thought it was complimentary
• They insisted this is normal and if we didn't want it we should have told him so when he brought it
• Any ways as it was our first time they excluded the sweet from the bill
• A few doors down was next door and open for business
• Even though this restaurant was part of my back up plan
• The decor had a real Middle Eastern feel to it with homely wooden tables and wooden chairs
• So I wanted to stop my stomach from growling a bit and ordered a portion of Mirza Qasemi which was a dish of grilled aubergines topped with a spiced sauce and quark
• I got my portion in the end and the aubergines were worth the wait
• I went for Qabli Polow with Lamb which was a very large piece of lamb shank with brown rice topped with juliennes of carrots
• There was a little bowl of broth nudged in the pile or rice which was meant to be poured over the rice
• So we settled for some mint tea that was served in a cute pink teapot and even cuter little tea glasses before heading back home
• One of the best in the area
• The specials that are only available on certain days e
• The slow cooked lamb stew on Sundays are well worth a look
• Also note that Zeytoon is alcohol free and closed at lunch time during Ramadan
• The atmosphere was loud because of a group of teens having a birthday
• The waiter was kind ad service was good
