The Woodstock Kushiyaki Bar (Mayfair)

• I was excited to see Kirin Ichiban on the draught beers menu as it is rare to find it in UK
• Somehow the salt came as a side with the edamame rather than being seasoned
• The calamari was very moreish
• Ginger pork belly were tender but could not taste the ginger
• Quail eggs and chicken thighs were all equally nice
• The soft shell crab was wonderful and not a sight of oiliness
• As a tea advocate I was shocked to be served tea in a replicate of cast iron teapot made with china and not loose tea but teabags
• The teabag was from Pukka
• The concept of The Woodstock is based on the pubs and bars found in Japan
• Their menu is small but covers the basics
• The service was a little haphazard and the place was hardly a well oiled machine
• Everything was flavourful and well cooked
• My favourites were the pork belly and chicken thigh
• I would say that none of it was spectacularly impressive
• Not for a full dinner with a big appetite
• I had a great evening catching up with my girls though (they also had decent wine for decent prices) and we all left happy and full
• This little and elegant gem near Oxford Street is a perfect place to stop at for a drink accompanied by small dishes while resting after shopping around
• The food per se is absolutely delicious
• Liver and thighs as well as prawns and the fried avocado was a real surprise
• While the fried enoki mushrooms were a bit to greasy
• That's a problem with this kind of mushrooms
• The miso soup was hearty and warming
• By far easily the best eating experience I had in London
• Infact the website states the concept is based on the pubs and bars found in Japan
• The flashing lights of Oxford Street are no long a stones throw away
• The requirement was for a Registry dress and luckily for me
• It took three dresses in the first store and I was at the checkout
