Saff and I are a food blogging husband and wife team
-
On this occasion I dined out with my old boss and friend
-
The only reason I mention this is that when we get chatting
-
The kitchen is headed up by Paul Fletcher
-
His menu kicks off with the puntastic question &lsquo
-
The restaurant was relatively full and considering it only hatched in July
-
Though the portion sizes are overwhelming
-
It is relatively hidden away next to Carnaby Street in Kingly Court but it really is a great find
-
The first trip as is required I had the roasted chicken which was lovely
-
On the next visit I thought I'd go a bit left field and tried the mussels (a current personal favourite of mine) and was again impressed
-
Cooked in craft beer it gives a taste different than your average mussel dish but remains light and is a filling lunch (even though on the menu it is a starter)
-
As is expected the craft beer selection is very good and creates problems for an indecisive guy like me
-
Luckily as I also ordered the South west crab on toast the decision was made for me with a paired beer
-
Once again the food was nice and light
-
The only slight problem I have is that the meals are relatively pricey and unfortunately I can't visit as often as I would like
-
Visited Whyte and Brown for the first time last week and I was seriously impressed
-
Selection of food and drink is excellent definitely something for everyone here and for a mainly chicken restaurant vegetarians are well catered for which is nice to see
-
I can confidently say are the best wings I've ever eaten
-
I followed the wings up with the BBQ pulled chicken burger
-
The chicken was soft and attention to detail is sublime with regards to flavourings
-
Unfortunately I was too full for dessert
-
If my first two courses were anything to go by
-
I don't normally write reviews but I was just so impressed by the quality of the food and the amazing service I received last night at Whyte &
-
I ordered the Korean wings with pear puree (perfect combo
-
Made the night perfect and recommended some of the best craft beers I've ever had
-
Can't wait for another excuse to go back and enjoy my delicious chicken in the courtyard (apparently the scaffolding is coming down soon)
-
I remember reading a review where they said that a concept restaurant based around chickens and eggs was a bit barmy
-
You are equally spoiled for choice with starters and finally we decided to split some of the chicken
-
Pancetta and bechamel croquettes which came with a tasty salsa
-
Then we both decided to get the souvlaki which came with chicken done two ways grilled on the skewer and on the side slow cooked chicken thigh
-
It was all brought together with pitta and tzatziki
-
On top of this I had a fantastic cocktail made with Japanese whiskey
-
They have recently updated their menus with beer pairing suggestions which I always appreciate
-
Brown beers on draught which I believe are made specially for them by the Red Willow brewery
-
Brown have jumped on the London cronut train with their W&
-
B Warm Cronut (tossed in cinnamon sugar and topped with ice cream)
-
Our waiter was on top form
-
The Kingly Court location is hard to beat well worth a visit
-
S unique menu I decided to give Whyte & Brown (Soho) a try and was rewarded with an unpretentious evening of good food paired well with delicious beer
-
The restaurant was quite chirpy for a Mid week evening and we were immediately met with friendly service and seated on the second floor
-
Everything on the simple menu sounded great and we were surrounded by people being served gorgeous looking food which made it a little difficult to decide
-
The burger arrived in its beautiful monstrosity and was the perfect order after a long work day
-
The caramelized Leeks were a strangely inviting addition to the otherwise standard burger
-
The warm Catalan Custard that the tart came with was delicious and I&rsquo
-
M sure I would have enjoyed it much more had I not already stuffed face with said burger
-
This hidden location is one of W&
-
Menu and concept are fun and I loved the drinks suggestions with the dishes
-
I ordered the Pulled Pork Bap which was so well cooked and my kind of BBQ sweet
-
The suggested dark ale was a great choice too(they actually ran out of the suggested one on the menu but the staff was helpful enough to quickly suggest a replacement)
-
Selecting our food was an ordeal that took a good 15 minutes for us indecisive folk everything looked sooo goood
-
Each dish also comes with a recommended ale in the menu which is a nice feature
-
Unfortunately I was a bit tight on cash so didn't go for a drink
-
They were piping hot and came with a nice cream tomato dip delicious
-
Everything was well presented and the service was efficiency with a smile
-
Whyte and Brown was more than a mere far fetched reference to illiterate Caucasians and their intellectually superior friends from New Delhi
-
Leek and bacon burger (being a Welshman anything with leek in it will float my boat) and the Whyte draught lager
-
Due to the fact that my wallet is the size of my attention span I obviously
-
The service was great and the food was brought promptly
-
The croquettes were a delicious mix of potato
-
Bacon and leek burger I had there was the best chicken burger I've EVER had
-
The addition of caramelised leek was inspired and the chicken patty was clearly made from real chicken meat
-
Where the only other time one can be seen eating such parts is on RedTube
-
The burger was of such good quality I'd definitely come back just for that
-
I was expecting quite thin cut chips but these were pretty much air
-
Luckily my friend had ordered the sweet potato fries and while I had been put off by the seemingly healthy aspect of that food they were far tastier and actually had substance to them
-
So overall it was a great experience
-
I ordered the Croquette Balls with Smokey Tomato Sauce from the Starter menu
-
I was really impressed with the service
-
I had the fortune of working with Vance McAllister
-
Considering I was heading to an event sponsored by Kraken Rum
-
They share the courtyard with Wright Bros
-
When the strike was cancelled on the second week
-
It concentrates even more on pairing craft beers with their food
-
This includes working with micro breweries across England
-
12 for a burger is a bit steep
-
I appreciate that the whole concept of the restaurant is based around chicken and that the chicken is free range
-
Obviously the difference in quality is noticeable
-
If they want to convince people that chicken is worth more than beef
-
The main vegetarian option the souvlaki with halloumi was great
-
This trend of sticking chips in a mini bucket is getting ridiculous)
-
The place was abuzz when I visited with friends a last week (which can't be said of the usually half empty gastropub I used to work at)
-
13.50 for half a chicken was a little too much for me so I went for a chicken
-
When restaurants primarily offer mains without sides for the price of mains with sides you expect a level above
-
What did have va va voom were the sweet potato fries I decided to have on the side (£
-
Though knowing we were all going to share it might have been helpful to have a few more than the 7 8 crackers we were given as the amount of cheese on the plate was a little disproportionate
-
The beer I had with my meal was tasty too
-
I'm not sure to what extent it was worth that difference in price
-
Whether or not its classiness would be enough to ensure its success as a chain is a separate (and hypothetical) matter
-
What I can say for certain is that it was an enjoyable meal and I'd probably go there again if I was in the area even if only to munch on more of those chicken crisps and sweet potato fries
-
At times it seems like it's where the whole of London collides and congregates into one massive pool of semi organised chaos which is just one "
-
In amongst all the craziness are little pockets of relief which are quite cool so long as you know where they are
-
One such pocket is Carnaby St which
-
What is quite new however is the development (or redevelopment) of Kingly Court as a top notch place for dining and being merry with a list of residents including Shoryu Ramen
-
You've got a tough gig holding your own but Whyte and Brown are showing that they are up for the challenge
-
I'd heard good things about Whyte and Brown before through the grapevine with a common theme consistently reappearing good chicken and good craft beer
-
I'm so so on craft beer but boy do I love chicken so when I was asked whether I wanted to go check it out for a review
-
The Southern fried chicken bites and crab on toast were followed by mains of beer can chicken
-
The desserts are a toss up and lends itself to personal preference
-
7 for a dessert is unreasonable and I think the price accurately reflects the meal you're getting
-
A casual night out (which Whyte & Brown (Soho) I envision is designed for)
-
35 per person for a 3 course meal with drinks and walk away happy
-
The dishes have been created with the utmost of care and inventiveness
-
Brown is that their menu is focused on chicken and craft ales
-
Sounds like it could be boring but in fact the menu is exceptionally creative and the beers are well sourced
-
We started with chicken crisps while we reviewed the menus as they were singing to me
-
I wasn't disappointed with the large sheets of crispy chicken skin we were presented with
-
Both portions were very generous and my croquettes were completely delicious served with a lovely smokey mayo
-
The chicken scotch egg dish was presented beautifully on cos lettuce with plenty of cheese
-
This dish both looked and tasted impressive I had imagined the minced chicken would be slightly bland but it was certainly not
-
After these large starters we were already starting to feel full but managed to force down our tasty main courses
-
Chicken and leek burger and chicken milanese (breaded chicken served with spicy tomato sauce
-
The frites were true matchsticks and perfectly cooked
-
The sweet potato chips were topped with feta and coriander
-
The chicken milanese was cooked to perfection and was again a huge portion
-
The burger was juicy and tasty but fell apart almost immediately and was very hard to eat
-
We didn't realise until one of us got up to use the loo that there was a specials board with other dishes it would be helpful for the waiters to draw attention to this
-
My boyfriend is a massive craft beer fan so was in his element with the comprehensive menu
-
Overall we were very impressed by the creative menu of well cooked food
-
Taste felt a bit sacrificed by the fact everything is just about the chicken but if you are a chicken lover this is going to be your paradise
-
If I had to choose in between the food an the beer I'd say that the beers are definitely the best
-
A few drinks with friends after work soon turned into dinner
-
Brown and be seated straight away 6 hangry people were very relieved
-
S speciality is chicken and beer I knew we&rsquo
-
With that dish is a recommended beer to accompany it
-
I ordered the Jerk burger with sweet potato fries on the side
-
My burger bun was a buttery brioche and the patty was made of grilled minced chicken and jerk spices
-
I thought my burger was a tiny bit bland and could have had some extras seasoning
-
The sweet potato fries were out of this world
-
Chopped up pieces of chorizo and feta cheese were sprinkled in the tin cup
-
Starters I shared truffle mac and cheese that was served in a mini hot skillet and sprinkled with toasted breadcrumbs
-
You can never go too wrong with mac and cheese
-
The pulled barbecue chicken bap was very tasty but my biggest food envy were the WB Chicken Ploughman&rsquo
-
S best picnic on a wooden board with potted pulled chicken
-
A swirl of sausage with a side of toasted sourdough
-
Did I mention it also came with crispy chicken skin
-
No fear as there was one salad dish ordered&hellip
-
It was heavy on the dressing and peppered with whole anchovies which isn&rsquo
-
B on the top floor of Kingley Arcade (which btw is finally a vibrant place now
-
) and we were greeted by the waiting staff who are attentive and friendly
-
Her grumbling aside we good stuck in to Southern chicken bites and crab on toast to start which i thought was nice and succulent and very tasty
-
The summer cup is amazing and good fruit taste to balance a huge savoury menu
-
Famous for chicken and it was over cooked
-
It needs to get its priority right when famous beer can chicken is only average standard
-
Seafood kebab was OK but it came in a surprise that menu didn't list it as deep fried at all
-
I had a warm butternut and beetroot salad with grilled chicken
-
S Labyrinth than figuring out where Kingly Court is (even after nearly 5 years here)
-
The yolk was soft which is definitely the way I prefer it and I couldn't really get the cheese
-
The chorizo was a tiny bit spicy and
-
Kingly Court is fast becoming a favourite of mine
-
I was seriously impressed with the variety of dishes on the menu
-
A gorgeous light onion bap filled with lashings of BBQ pulled chicken and blue cheese slaw
-
In a brioche bun with peashoots and a sour cream and spring onion dressing
-
Even great food with a super friendly service that makes you feel welcome
-
The only downside to the experience was the wind that day but otherwise a lovely experience for the first meal in London
-
My immediate response is 'craft burger'
-
I had the chicken with smashed potatoes
-
Wine by South African standards was extremely expensive
-
Won't scurry back in a hurry and that's only because there are far too many eateries to enjoy in the city
-
Went here late Thursday evening and Kingly Court was buzzing with people
-
It's a really nice location with a courtyard of other restaurants and bars
-
I got the chicken souvlaki which was really tasty
-
Whyte and Brown is a restaurant in the bustling Kingly Court that claims free range chicken as its specialty
-
There was a miscommunication in our order that was met with something just short of snarkiness
-
Service aside the food was very decent
-
I had a starter of chicken goujons served with tomato mayo
-
It's a shame that there was not enough sauce on the burger as some bites ate dry while others were evocative of a full plate of Christmas dinner
-
The food here was by no means bad
-
Due to unfriendly/inattentive service and the area Whyte and Brown finds itself in being filled with top notch dining options
-
A pulled chicken burger was a sad mess which was described as chewy dry and bland
-
Save for the lovely waitress who was absolutely brilliant
-
If you are in the middle of soho there are so many other interesting menus and establishments which bother to show a modicum of interest in serving up palatable food that I suggest you pick one
-
The place is cozy from the inside and the staff is easy going
-
All food ordered were worth the try
-
There Parmesan truffle fries and sticky toffee pudding are just well let's just say you have to come and try it out yourself cause no matter what I say it won't be enough
-
The truffle chips are deliciously indulgent side that I can highly recommend
