The White Lyan (Hoxton)

• Order the chips with nutella/olive oil
• My companion's Bay Cosmo was less exciting
• White Lyan was the polar opposite of the atmosphere we had just exited at the London Cocktail Club
• It was quiet to the extreme and we were served by the antithesis to the typical Shoreditch barman
• White Lyan is cold and clinical and feels a bit like an 80s boardroom
• The drinks were incredibly interesting and perfectly executed
• The MO for White Lyan is pre batched cocktails
• That part of it is probably something they don&rsquo
• It was a bit like an alcoholic berocca and the discernible vinegar taste was actually nice
• A rum and coke but with a cherry twist and tobacco to give it some depth
• White Lyan in Hoxton is fast becoming the hottest bar in London thanks to its unique approach to cocktail making
• You won't see any drink brands on display as all spirits are sourced directly from distillers
• All the cocktails are pre mixed with unusual ingredients before bottling with no ice and no garnish
• Ryan has rewritten the rule of cocktail making with spectacular results
• A whisky based cocktail with aroma and texture of a normal Guinness but with a totally different tasting profile
• I simply just can't understand how can this be one of the best bars in the world
• Maybe they are selling the concept
