Bea Vo is best known for her ongoing Bea's of Bloomsbury success but she also built up quite a following with her weekend diner in the Maltby St Market area
-
We arrived just as last orders were being taken
-
Including The Big Stax (28 dry aged Pedigreed Sussex Beef on Balthazar Brioche with Spicey Comeback Sauce
-
So a return trip is definitely in order
-
The Stax Po'Boy with cajun spiced popcorn shrimp on brioche and an eye catching Cajun Onion Blossom are on my to eat list
-
We left space for a couple of decadent Duffin Sundaes Bea's famous buttermilk and nutmeg duffin (doughnut vs muffin) with French Vanilla Ice Cream
-
I also need to get along for a Stax brunch which is now up and running every Sat Sun from 8am til 2pm
-
Balthazar Brioche French Toast with Caramelized Bananas and Walnuts
-
Buttermilk Marinated Fried Chicken and Waffles can all be washed down with bottomless Square Mile coffee
-
The burgers are simply the messiest
-
The chicken and waffles was possibly as good
-
From the outside you would be hard convinced that this Dinner is a restaurant that uses and serves Halal meat across all its burgers
-
Because of the awesomeness of the burger i was about to eat
-
Lettuce and Mayo with added onions and beef bacon and boy
-
The moment I bit into it it was pure food porn
-
The taste and texture was just great and the beef bacon just really enhanced the overall taste and experience
-
We also ordered a side of chips which was more than enough for 2 people
-
Our waiter was so nice and friendly and explained the menu to us in depth (my friend needed help with deciding on what cheese to get
-
The fries are the best I've ever had
-
Upon the drinks menu was overpriced coffee and tea and orange juice
-
Alongside the chicken placed upon waffles witha side of maple syrup and bluberry pancakes with a side of cream and more maple syrup
-
Kingly court is nestled in on the side of carnaby street
-
The restaurant itself is not very big and has a array of seating
-
S the attention to detail and quality which is unique&hellip
-
The meat is all stunned halal and no pork is served on the premises although alcohol is
-
The restaurant is the brainchild of Bea (of Bloomsbury) &ndash
-
Whose scrumptious cupcakes are well known
-
The menu and storyboard are inspired by her childhood memories of the Deep South
-
Item stated on the menu was the Cajun onion blossom
-
It was pretty tricky to eat in any dignified manner and after a few minutes of attempting neat dissection I gave up and got stuck in with my fingers
-
T want to know how many calories were consumed but it was the most gluttonous thing I&rsquo
-
Mains everyone I could see was ordering the halal organic beef burgers
-
The burger patty itself was cooked and seasoned very well
-
The beef bacon was quite salty and overpowering but I&rsquo
-
M informed by frequent visitors that this is not usually the case
-
Course no American diner is complete without the right drinks and Stax has milkshakes
-
The ambience is fun and relaxed so it&rsquo
-
The only downside was that the kitchen was quite small for a busy restaurant so expect a little wait and try not to stuff yourself on addictive onion blossom while you do
-
We are really impressed with Stax Diner (Soho)
-
Maybe nothing over the top but the best i have had so far
-
Eye catching bit was the drum kit chandelier
-
I ordered a savory dish and it was absolutely delicious
-
The music here is not that great even though I've heard a lot of people giving positive reviews about it
-
The shakes are also a must try here
-
I went to Stax Diner (Soho) with a few friends and had a wonderful time
-
Make sure that the guests are comfortable
-
The restaurant is small ans nice
-
We ordered a lot of food and everything was delectable
-
Enjoyed it with fries from another restaurant
-
The burger was amazing and I would definitely come back to Stax Diner (Soho) for their reasonably priced burgers
-
Visited Stax Diner (Soho) a couple of days back and I am in love with their food
-
The service offered is amazing and very efficient
-
The food was delivered in time and the staff members were cooperative enough to accommodate us even in the busy hours
-
Stax Diner (Soho) is very good and one place you must go out of your way to visit
-
It is inspired by Southern Soul cuisine and does complete justice to it along with a few twists
-
The atmosphere is quite hip and a lot of fun
-
If you are looking for a place to grab a quick lunch during your office break then Stax Diner (Soho) is just an ideal one
-
The service is quick and you can have a good time watching your meal being cooked live
-
They also serve the best and crispy fries
-
I have heard that Stax Diner (Soho) is halal certified and have also heard that Stax Diner (Soho) serves amazing burgers
-
I was not at all disappointed with Stax Diner (Soho)
-
Service was a bit slow and the waiters messed up with few orders
-
Stax diner is a new venture from Bea Vo
-
Oddly the kitchen fridge is in the dining room
-
So with dining partner in crime ordered the bacon cheeseburger accessorised with sides of Cajun onion bloom
-
Greaseproof paper) fits well with the decor and space
-
The burger patty is out of proportion with the bun skewed to one side
-
Thin sliced pickles have a good tang and work with the cheese
-
The beef in the patty is some of the most loosely packed I've eaten in London
-
Almost like it's been scooped out of a tub and slapped straight on the grill with a minimum of hand working or forming
-
The result is a load of mince in a roll
-
Although there is some great caramelisation on the outside
-
Onion bloom is novel battered with Cajun spices one shared between two gives me my week's quota of onion
-
Skin on double cooked fries with Cajun spices are really good
-
This burger experience is a bit of a mixed bag
-
I love the space and the onion bloom is innovative
-
It could be a really great burger the caramelised crust on the burger is phenomenal
-
Our first choice was Pitt Cue Co
-
The wait time was 50 whole minutes
-
Feeling the urge to stay with the burger theme
-
This diner is just off Carnaby Street
-
S located on the first floor and is amongst the hub of cool restaurants
-
The place was fairly busy from the get go and we were promptly seated by the waitress at a window
-
Cranberry sauce and with a hint of chilli
-
As the burger was super packed
-
All the ingredients seem to merge together and the centre was a little too soft for my liking
-
The burger is pretty filling
-
The restaurant is a good place to go if you like a buzzing environment
-
The waiters are pleasant and helpful
-
Well regarding wait time and space they have some lack but the hamburgers are fresh and tasty
-
They have this spicy fries with some garlic really gnummy
-
I really advice the hamburger with double steak of camberbert ( French chees) some thing different for eat outside the box
-
The menu we were given at 12
-
Anyway we decided to stay despite this and I picked the buttermilk chicken with waffles and maple syrup as this seemed the closest option to brunch
-
The waffle was a large circular thing and super tasty
-
Unlike his iced tea which was lush and in a super cute glass
-
The atmosphere is good but seats are lacking
-
Thats main attraction is chicken and waffle
-
Once it hits your taste buds you see that this combo is a little less crazy and a lot more tasty
-
This is the place to go if you have had a long day of shopping on Oxford street or even if you are out with friends and really want to just chill and enjoy some good food
-
That do their best to make you feel at home
-
Your seats are in a position which allows you to see the bar and the kitchen
-
This is good for those that like to know how their food is cooked or who are just nosey and like to see what happens behind the scenes
-
Cajun spiced popcorn shrimp on a brioche bun with spicy comeback sauce lettuce and tomato or
-
The chicken was moist and soft to cut
-
The coating did separate from it a bit but that was still delicious
-
It wasn't as crispy as i was expecting but as i said
-
It is not as good as chicken and waffle in america but its the best one I have had in London
-
They had a special soda of the day which was fanta grape
-
Also i tried my cousin's cajun fries which were a bit dry so not so good
-
Considering a few window seats were in front of an open window which made us feel a bit cold
-
Querky little diner with shakes and burgers
-
Onion rings and medium lamb burger with brioche buns
-
Fairplay it was still awesome
-
My initial expectation was to be greeted with something I had already had before
-
The identikit sandwich accompanied with the inevitable Ferrero milkshake
-
I think the main difference I found was that this wasn't a place designed for and marketed to Muslims
-
That's significant in a world where Islam is increasingly being pimped out as a brand to be traded on and commoditised
-
I didn't mind because the burger was really good (I may have mentioned that already)
-
A five patty cheese burger with a family portion of chips and super sized milkshake is presented to the challenger
-
There's even a hall of fame/shame I was quite surprised at how long the list of failures were
-
Stax Diner is a halal gourmet burger restaurant located in Kingly Court
-
I order a basic cheese burger and a spicy option with carmelized onions and jalapenos
-
I ordered the fries which were potatoes with a lil skin on them and tasted lovely
-
The burgers are limited to beef and chicken but there is a good choice
-
We were quite lucky that there was an empty table when we got to the restaurant seeing as it was really busy
-
Wished the chickadee was a bit more spicy but that's just because I love spicy food
-
Atmosphere was great and the price was quite fair
-
Overall it was a very enjoyable meal
-
This was a hearty meal if ever there was one and I urge you not to come here unless you are starving but if you are
-
The 3 of us still had to wait half an hour for a table but the good news was that rather than queuing
-
They take your number and call you when your table is ready and luckily for us
-
Each dish on the menu sound solid but my eye were immediately drawn to both the popcorn shrimp in brioche bread or the butterilk fried chicken waffles
-
They have a tempting range of milkshakes and non alcoholic drinks but fully aware of how filling the main courses are going to be
-
It wasn't quite clear to us whether we were expected to go up to pay at the counter or simply whether they were being a little slow to the table
-
We all commented that this would be a restaurant to return to with the men and whilst it's certainly not the healthiest food in town
-
This diner was a bit smaller than I imagined so it wouldn't be a place you would want to go to with a large group
-
The chicken and waffle was the standout dish of the night and I would highly recommend it
-
Not my favourite but they were not bad by any means
-
A very quirky place off of Carnaby Street and is often filled up quickly
-
I think I take a friend with me next time and will definitely try out their burgers as they looked awesome
-
I had waffles with chicken (wierd combo) and made me sick on top of that with maple syrup however it's the most popular and raved food in their place
-
The Mojitos were nice and fresh but they could have done with a bit more lemon flavor
-
The burgers were nice and big
-
The seasoning was good and was added enough to cover the fries but not overpower them
-
It's a nice place for dinner and the prices were reasonable
-
The burgers are really good and there are a lot of options
-
Also the shakes are really nice
-
Fries were ok but tasted really nice with ketchup and their homemade hot sauce which was a nice salsa sauce
-
I wanted a spicy burger but their insanity burger had fried onion rings which is a bit much for a small burger tummy like me
-
A hippy Southern American style diner that caters with halal meat
-
The original plan was for chinese buffet as we were in Soho but Stax Diner (Soho) came up
-
The fries were really crispy and the presentation of the food was impressive
-
This visit was on a Monday afternoon &ndash
-
The vibe this time round was way more chilled instead of being all busy and hustling
-
One of the main reasons for this re visit is for a specific dish
-
Board which is off the regular menu
-
I couldn't be any more delighted that it is precisely what I came back for it is something that had me hooked ever since I last saw it on the 'special menu' board a year ago
-
So this big secret is a waffle burger stack consisting of beef then chicken
-
I got the regular cheeseburger popcorn shrimp Nd regular fries with virgin mojitos
-
In all fairness the meat was well cooked well seasoned
-
Nd the fact that everything was حلال was such a plus 'cause we could've chose from what we wanted even their 'bacon' was halal beef lool
-
Staff were attentive Nd the cute lady was so helpful
-
If burgers are your thing
-
I've had one hit and one miss outing at Stax previously so far and this was the second positive visit
-
So had to wait age like over 60 minute for a table the cool thing is the fact that you can go for a drinking somewhere else and follow your place in the queue throught the link sent
-
After the ling wait we got 2 chairs next to the door which made the whole experience a nightmare with people coming and going and door opening and closing
-
The place is small and when asked if we could move 2 chairs down as it was empty was told no (despite the fact that they were empty through our whole meal)
-
Anyway food was goid went for chicken and waffle with side if fries and a milkshake
-
I was fasting and came 1 hour before time to eat and I was sent away as soon as I said I'm fasting
-
At first he was gonna let me in and then he said there's no tables
-
I advise you to plan your visit before you go since the place is quite small and the queue for a available seat could take more than 45 minutes
-
The service level is high and the burgers taste really good
-
Their mojitos and shakes are a bit overpriced but however tasty
-
By the time it was our turn they were out of food
-
Was recommended by a friend and the food was highly spoken of
-
Starters was a shrimp basket and shrimps were not crispy
-
I most definitely do and the ratings on Stax Diner (Soho) was really good
-
Stax Diner (Soho) is yummy with professional staff that listens to every modification and detail you want in your burger
-
Stax serves classic American fast food fare at the glorified food court that is Kingly Court
-
A starter of fried green tomatoes was slightly below average as it was lacking in salt
-
Cajun fries were a repeat of the tomatoes as they were also well cooked while leaving some salt to be desired
-
I found the Shrimp Po Boy to be quite tasty and generous with the amount of shrimp in the actual sandwich
-
Yes the place is bloody tiny
-
Is why the burger I chose 'bring home the bacon' is very clever indeed
-
Had to wait for 40 minutes to get a table which is fair enough
-
I must say that the chicken is one of the best I've ever had
-
Unfortunately the waffle was a bit too soggy
-
I would have enjoyed it much more if they were a bit harder and fresher
-
The mojito's there were perfect too
-
The burger is quite large
-
I found that the buns were too thick and extremely buttery the butter actually brought the whole burger down
-
Fries and mojitos were average and prices were decent
-
We all had burgers with fries and a drink each
-
For London is not very expensive
-
I've chosen the burger with the least spice on it
-
8.95) features 28 day dry aged pedigreed Sussex beef on an organic buttery soft bun with grilled onion
-
When I first visited I was so excited because not many places in London serve halal beef
-
Their service is suffering purely because they're so busy all the time
-
While the burger itself is good as are the fries
-
I feel like there is no value for money
-
The quality and quantity are both amazing
-
Stax Diner was so so dead I ordered chicken an waffles which between my partner and I we both agreed tasted like chalk
