The Ship (Wandsworth)

• London doesn't have a shortage of gastropubs to choose from which is both a blessing and a curse
• A few names do pop up consistently and one such name is The Ship in Wandsworth
• I thought it was probably a good idea to check it out myself and I'm bloody glad I did
• To say the food is good is an understatement it's delicious but what's impressive though is the variety of food on offer which is all so good
• You can be sure you're in for a treat with quality that would rival a traditional restaurant without having to pay the price
• You won't be the only one though as the secret is well and truly out
• Where the humid weather played havoc with Edd Kimber&lsquo
• The second time we were invited along by the ever charismatic manager Oisin Rogers (more commonly known as Osh) to take a sneak peek at the recently completed renovation works
• Parking right next to the pub can be a bit of an issue but there is also a NCP style car park only a few hundred meters or so away
• The newly extended restaurant was almost as busy as the garden
• What we really liked was the quirky
• All around us waitresses were dashing about with plates piled high with roast diners (pork
• 14 you can see why they were so popular
• This was topped with crisp pea shoots
• T disappointed with The Ship&lsquo
• Rich melt in the mouth pork with Asian overtones
• Most people were ordering roasts but we both went for something a little lighter
• So when I saw it was a big player in the Red pepper risotto
• Salty and spicy Jenga block shaped chorizo chunks were the perfect bedfellow for the sweet
• Especially as it was the second cheapest dish in the mains section
• T stop me from wishing that I could mop the plate clean with some leftover bread
• It goes without saying that the duck was cooked perfectly
• Saff said it was packed with flavour
• It could have done with more orange flesh
• As the sun was shining I ordered the totally tropical taste of the Grilled pineapple
• Sweet pudding was the solid equivalent of a Piñ
• There was no way that either of us were even going to attempt the sticky toffee pudding or treacle tart (both £
• 6.25) was a crazy fruit trifle/crumble hybrid with some sorbet thrown in for good measure
• We made our way back outside to see if there was anywhere to park our bums and discuss our holiday (a post on our USA trip to come really soon)
• A nice ambiance with a modern feel and rustic touch thanks to the wooden furniture
• The cuisine is British and the service welcoming
• The raspberry mousse was very smooth
• The drinks are great and the food is even better
• The food in the restaurant is better in variety and flavour but seriously overpriced
• It's either fine dining and overpriced or pub joint with hearty burgers
• The girls and I were over visiting and our friend brought us here on a Sunday for day drinks
• He had them outside with an electric fire lit was fab
• The bar area is always very lively and loud whereas the restaurant area is quieter and you can actually hear each other
• In summer there is a beautiful outdoor space straight at the river
