Purl (Marylebone)

• The cocktail menu is quite interesting with some very novel ones on there
• One which was served with pop corn on the side and one which came in little test tubes like a home chemistry set
• The presentation is unique and attractive but on the taste front most of the drinks were very mediocre
• I also had a gin and tonic that bizzarely came with a cute little bag of popcorn
• Something we were served came with a cucumber sandwich as well
• Great for a comfortable catch up with some friends
• Wonder how you were transported back to the 21st century
• As the top bars are always a bit quieter and the staff have more time to chat
• Sampling La Hechicera Rum with co founder Laura Riascos
• We sat down with Laura to hear about the history of the rum
• The La Hechicera brand is very young (it launched in the UK in 2012 and was the most highly awarded new rum that year)
• It all started with Laura's grandfather in Colombia
• Securing some American white oak casks and two of Cuba's finest distillers who are still working on fine rums in Barranquilla to this day
• The finished product is a spirit worthy of the name Enchantress (translated from Spanish)
• Whereas La Hechicera is bottled at 40%
• We proved that there is no added sugar by literally washing our hands with the rum no sticky palms afterwards
• We didn't move on to many of their crazy cocktails that they are well known

• Several of their cocktails come with an extra bit of flair
• The Cerez Joker which comes with a balloon which is popped and releases a lemony aroma to compliment your drink
• The cocktails at Purl are not cheap by any means
• Of course you are not paying for just the cocktail
• We thought the Signature cocktails were slightly better value for money as you got more actual cocktail in your glass than you did with the &lsquo
• They were about the same price but the amount of liquid you got was equivalent to a double shot in some cases
• I think this is because these cocktails came with &lsquo
• The wait staff were friendly and helpful
• As one of the best bars in the city
• A chance encounter with a fine young male
• All the cocktails were creatively made
• The flame popped balloon was a game well played
• A piano and bass were playing away
• Purl (Marylebone) is serious about their cocktails
• 12 a drink this is not the place for a session but the creative
• Innovative drinks are exceptional
• The place itself is a but if a rabbit warren
• Translating what some of the more unusual ingredients are on the menu
• The drinks are very Heston blumentil they are theatrical
• The drinks are solid and the cocktails amazing wine options are limited but who's drinking the wine anyway
• They never fail to disappoint with drinks that fizz
• The result is a very creative aroma
• I believe the best word to describe the cocktail is uniqueness
• Is great for catching up with friends or for a romantic date
• It is probably the best part of the place
• The music that is played is easy going/non disturbing 50&rsquo
• S just neat that every seating area is so different
• I am confused at to whether this is because they are trying to give you space to enjoy your time
• Or if they really were busy and were not giving us the attention they should have been
• So the drinks are the main attraction here
• You can get some cool drinks with a smoky fog around them
• To a drink that comes with an ice lollie to be enjoyed simultaneously
• I think the value is decent considering the quality and creativity of the drinks and atmosphere
• S a place I love to go to if I want to catch up with a friend and enjoy a unique experience
• We were given a table right next to the piano which was very uncomfortable
• The drinks that we ordered were also disappointing
• The service was also not prompt
• The best bit here are the master classes they have
• The bartender was a lot of fun to be with and learn from
• Everyone else too was really friendly and helpful here

• I really liked the concept of the place and I went here with a hope that I will be having a good time but because of the rudeness of the staff I was pretty much disappointed
