  • Music venue housed in the only remaining part of the original Hackney Central station which was closed in the 1970s

  • With a great view of the lovely long bar (which is also home to a Pioneer DJ mixer don't spill your drinks

  • The food menu (created by Dave Ahern formerly of House of Wolf) is quite something

  • We started off with a bonkers Salmon BLT and Apple &

  • Horseradish Mackerel with pressed apple &

  • Got chosen just ahead of Beetroot Tarte Tatin with Smoked Yoghurt &

  • The bacon similarity is subtle but most definitely there

  • Horseradish mackerel (see below) was also a great success

  • We resisted the tempting Oslo Burger (served with Oxtail shot &

  • Glazed Chicken Lollipop with Sauteed sea vegetables &

  • Poached Chicken Breast with Garlic Mushroom Mash and Bacon &

  • My chicken dish was comforting &

  • The Plaice was beautifully cooked and the Jerusalem artichokes deserved their spot

  • The sea vegetables were (intentionally) too salty for us

  • Dessert was arguably the highlight with a fantastic Winterberry Trifle with Rose Jelly &

  • An indulgent Chocolate Tart with Chocolate Chip Ice cream made up for it

  • I also love the sound of Peanut Butter Cheesecake with Caramel Bananas to share

  • The upstairs music venue looks superb and is home to live music &

  • Didn't get to try any of the food when I went to Oslo as it was far too busy

  • Instead I had to console myself with enjoying the vibe of the place and the upstairs party they had going on

  • Downstairs the bar is quite beautiful

  • It was so busy it was hard to get a good view of the place

  • On my visit was doing a very good job of housing a bunch of people there to dance and have a good time at Valhalla

  • They were testing out their new menu last night so we were invited along for the free food

  • There's a Nordic influence to Oslo (Hackney) with a huge wooden bar and vaulted ceilings that keep things airy and clean lined

  • The smoker hadn't arrived meaning smoked fries and the bone marrow was out of bounds too

  • What there was to choose from was still good

  • Come served on a wooden board with mini chip fryers filled to the brim

  • The new Oslo is a big patty

  • No prizes for creativity either but it was wolfed down pretty sharpish nonetheless

  • The Marrakech mixes things up with a lamb patty with pomegranate

  • Ash was a little surprised that the chicken wasn't breaded or fried but I guess you gotta roll with the punches

  • I went for the fish of the day (hake) with the triple cooked fries (which I ate all of

  • Once) and the crab mayo (the best bit) with lots of fresh lemon to bring it to life

  • Myself and the missus were having a stroll from Hackney to London Fields in search of some decent weekend scran

  • The decor inside this restaurant/bar is standard fare for the common or garden hipsters now ubiquitous in Hackney

  • Carrot and kale played their parts expertly in what was the best restaurant roast I've had in years

  • The taste removed such criticism to a footnote in what was otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable meal

  • They go the extra mile to ensure the food is of decent quality and to your tastes

  • Oslo opened in 2014 and offers British cuisine with a Nordic twist

  • Our visit coincided with the launch of Oslo&rsquo
